Honestly, I don't think I could do the job.
I tend to be a huge jerk if you haven't noticed, and frankly anything that I tried to do would probably wind up making me the bad guy (even by my own standards) in the long run.
Thus all kidding aside, if I was ever in charge I'd try my best, but I imagine at some point I'd be sitting there going "when did I become the bad guy?". Sort of like the political version of Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" (and honestly some of the stuff mentioned here reminds me a bit about the things he did in that movie during his rampage... awesome movie, the guy was nuts but you would sit there and watch it and pretty much be cheering for him).
See, like right now I'm not exactly a racist, but I am increasingly tired and angry of people picking on white people just because they can, or things being 'wrong' just because white people are, or were involved. Some would argue "turnabout is fair play" but personally I don't really subscribe to that here. I get tired of "America is the Debbil" history, the accusations of racism on video games (and works of fantasy in general) when none exists, and then seeing people who are "minorities" do all the same basic stuff, some of it worse, and having that be okay just because their not white. Of course if you get irritated about this ane generally talk about "representing for the white race" (like some people proudly proclaim for minority groups) then the next thing you know your a labeled a bigot or some kind of wierd KKK guy when all your doing is pretty much standing up for yourself (and dare I say your people?).
I suddenly become God Emperor of the US or whatever. I can pass whatever laws I want. BUT problems like this are things that have to be resolved by societies which is why I always talk about what WE should do, or what THEY (lawmakers) should do. Sometimes a bit crazily because I do rant.
No matter how well intentioned a desician made by one person on some matters (though not all) is going to do more harm than good no matter what the law or desician is.
This is one of the reasons why I support our system of goverment in the US even to the point of some fairly insane rants. While not a true democracy (a true democracy could never function for reasons I won't get into right now), I feel the way we do things is the only way to do them because desicians made by a dictator, a single ruling council, or even a large ruling socialist "party" inevitably cross the people and lead to larger strife and discontent than will be seen if an action more or less comes from the society itself, or the cumulative efforts of a LOT of elected officials (as opposed to a few). Simplistic and there ar problems with this statement in of itself, but this isn't a political analysis.
I mean sure, we all have our facist power fantasies, but if I think of this seriously, if I killed all the people who merely irked me (as some suggested) if it was real I'd have to live with that otherwise. I wouldn't get to chuckle, finish the message, and not worry about it again.
About the only good thing that would come of me being the dictator of the most powerful nation on earth would probably be a very powerful space program (monsterously so) which would quite probably leave behind research and benefits for humanity even if my regime fell.

I would require that everyone be a good little worker drone, anyone who failed to do so would have their home and food supplies cut off from them.
