Instrumental rock, stuff like John 5
You like John 5? Never thought I'd find a fan, I'm so glad! He's one of the best guitarists in the universe! Although John is more weird (a good weird) metal and country.

That one carries a history. But any conversation dealing with it rapidly devolves into the social argument of guilt or innocence, and a flamefest ensues. Wiki it if you're interested.
oh snap, yeah, that kind of crap is about why i don't subscribe to the whole subcultural bit...sigh...

truth be told i tend to go for stuff more like dimmu borgir (i don't like low-production metal, tends to get a bit sludgey) but thats still depressing isn't it? its why i like bands like rammstein, they do their show, bow and leave. they're consumnate professionals.
I've lived in Norway about five years now, so naturally I'm a bit closer to the BM scene on the day to day. I can tell you this though: Not all black is depressing. It's more about setting an atmosphere for a story to be told in, than about being depressive. The atmosphere is just typically dark and bleak.

I am currently in a band with some good friends of mine. We have only practiced together once and plan on meeting up again sometime this week or next week. At the moment we are learning Crystal Mountain by Death then we might learn and play Gods of War Arise or Hermods Ride to Hel (Lokes Treachery) by Amon Amarth.

I'm the drummer of this band by the way, didn't mention it earlier.

I play drums and have for almost 20 years, and my dream sounding band would consist of a combination of the following; radiohead, TU, Terry Bozzio Tony Levin and Steve Stevens, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Live, NIN

I'd play the bagpipes, everyone could figure how to work that in.

I sound a lot like Spoon.

Though sometimes some friends and I play bluegrass. I dabble a good bit in a lot of genres except for metal. I could never pull off metal because I don't like the sound and metal guys are too ridiculous with the faux intensity. Lighten up, brahseph.

Well, I'd be the drummer and I would think we would start out in each genre and then go with what we do best.

If I could instantly learn how to play an instrument and join a band. Harmonica.

I was in a band, and we covered Metallica and The Offspring for our first (and with me, only) show. We probably would have moved into some other stuff, but we sepnt more time arguing over what to play than we did actually playing.

I've played in thrash metal bands and punk bands. Now I play in a metalcore outfit and I do my own morbid synth pop stuff and accoustic vesions of metal songs. I love music :D

If I was in a band I would most likely be guitarist/bassist.

We would play Alternative Rock, Metal, and goof off with acoustics now and then.

Oh wait, I'd play a folkey bluesy, classic rock style band, singing about giant worms, and how Hal Jordan is an "electric lightning man"

Folk rock. Like Three Dog Night, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Byrds, Jethro Tull, and the like.

Also maybe some prog rock. Pink Floyd, Yes, and Rush ftw.

Haha I thought you said October Rage then, that would be awesome since it's my bro's band =D Um, I would play classic rock and I would be the lead singer/possible rythm guitarist.
