Honestly, the fact that they are bringing up the loss of thousands of lives to put down a country doesn't bother me nearly as much as how many "Likes" those posts received. Particularly disturbing are the comments by Ryan Sullivan (top mid-right) where he counts each death as a "win" and Tommy Voter (bottom mid-right) who is clearly just an asshole.

To anyone who thinks I shouldn't use their names to point them out as brought up by my friend: why should I protect their privacy if they clearly don't care who reads what they type.

Your example is a case where the offensive statement had a direct connection with the job at hand. I do not know if this guy works in a Japanese restaurant, awar museum or some sort of public spokesman job, but if not, his personal views (he probably doesn't even care, he's just a moron that shouted something moronic without second thought) should not interfere with his job.
NiPah implied that he works at an institute for at-risk youths. I'll assume that he was correct as it doesn't seem like something you make up. What if he's working with Japanese kids? That kind of behaviour hints at racist attitudes which are a dangerous thing when you're working with children.

Consider someones facebook had links to groups like the KKK and his employment section says he works at a school in a mixed race neighbourhood. Would you be comfortable with him working with ethnic children?

Obviously he felt this way before he said what he said... Obviously he was hired on at said institute.. So obviously it doesn't affect how he handles things at his job. So because he said something crass an insensitive on the internet doesn't mean it should be reported to his employer... Fucking with someones job is complete bullshit.
You don't just say something like that randomly over the internet, there is some screw loose for him to say that. How do you combat issues like this? debate it over a forum about how mad it makes you? or do you stand up and try to fight for an issue you believe in.

The world is full of people who sit and complain about issues in the world, that does nothing, this guy will keep on believing that until someone steps up and calls him on it. You work in that kindof environment and you say stuff like that opening online?

Every one of those people reflect their employers, they reflect America when no one steps up to fight it, it happened after the quake and it happened again after Japan won a damn game of Soccer.

Yes it's the internet police, idiots are just the casualties, a few hours in a "cultural sensitivity training" meeting is what that guy needs. If they choose to fire him then that's their beef, clearly they don't want that in their institution.

Good job linking the idiotic actions of a handful of people to an entire country of 320 million people.

Cause nobody ever over reacts after losing a sports game across the world. Nope all the riots and shit, totally made up.

The world can be a racist, violent, ugly place if you want to look at it that way. I look at it differently, almost all idiots are only idiots about a handful of things, and for every idiotic point of view there are dozens of reasonable ones, and hundreds or thousands of apathetic people.

Each and every one of you has sounded like an idiot in the past, but I'm sure it feels great to feel superior and judgmental so don't let me stop you.
At least in these riots it's just idiots fighting idiots. This thread was made to ask people to be more considering when they post something on the internet, not to judge the US. Chill out man, not everyone is out to get you.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've never wished a Tsunami on an entire country just because they beat mine in a sports competition. It's also funny that they are raging over a sport that's not even popular or important in the US.

I don't think these comments represents a substantial part of America. It's just some hand-picked examples of idiocy on the Internet. Yeah it's sad but hardly surprising

We still don't know the whole story. For all we know that man was drunk when he posted that comment. In your example of having links to the KKK, that is good enough evidence that he really feels that way. In this case, without further information it's not fair to let him lose his job.

If they we're anyone i'd known on facebook, i'd be too tempted to drop a 9/11 response, but then again, better not to sink to that level, better go with the alternative "YO GUYS! STFU ABOUT WW2, AND MAKE US EUROPEANS SOME MORE VIDEOGAMES WILL YA?"

This again? I like the one about how it's revenge for the Krauts nuking Pearl Harbour.

EDIT: Oh, right, Women's Soccer. That's somehow even worse. "Stay Classy America" indeed.
Wait, what???

And secondly, this is pretty fucking ridiculous, especially since America doesn't even have much love for football anywany....Sorry, soccer.

I simply got it from his facebook:

"Behavior technicians observe and record the progress of their subject while assisting them with training, skill development and communications, often employing behavioral techniques, methods and analyses."

Absolutely nothing new, people are stupid and say stupid things all the time. Not to mention, when did soccer get so popular here that people are saying so many racist things? I know the last World Cup was more popular than the '06 Cup but I was still in the minority of people watching it where I live.

[small]at least it was broadcast in English this time, I had to watch all of the '06 games in Spanish[/small]

I wonder how many of the people posting were alive even, let's say, two decades after WW2 ended?
Yeah, I see a lot of "we won" but in reality, the only ones that can say that are the people who were alive then.

Although these morons are completely wrong for even saying something like that. But then again, MZ made Facebook to take financial advantage of egocentric idiots, so it's no surprise their servers are packed to the fans with them.

He posted it on his board, one that all the kids in the academy could clearly see, and he's left it there without any sign of removing it or posting an apology.

Do you know why there are lots of stories about teachers getting fired for what they say on Facebook? It's your viewpoints, one Japanese youth in his academy follows and reads that and bam, all the work done at the academy is done.

These are at Risk youth, most likely extremely high chance of suicide, issues with authority, it doesn't matter if he just did it on a drunken binge.

Alright then, I just do not agree with you. I don't find one tasteless comment bad enough to maybe completely destroy this man's life.

I thought nothing could be more pathetic than people saying that the earthquake and tsunami were payback for Pearl Harbor.

I was wrong. >_<

Oh look a place for pointless self-righteous replies about people that shouldn't even be acknowledged. Feels like spreading stupidity that will just continue the blanket generalizations that need to stop all over.
I agree and i cannot count all the replies that are equaly full of ignorant racist comments by Escapist members towards Americans. Just goes to show you ignorance is a worldwide phenomena and this thread needs to be locked.
