Case in point Sims sold more then WoW did and most people round here thinks Sims is a piece of shit.
I want to know where you people are getting your totally non-subjective game quality measuring device which the whole Universe can agree on where the exact position every game in the world would be on the list of best games ever made.

WoW wasnt that popular until about 3 years in and it did jack shit for MMO's.
Halo: Combat Evolved? What?! What did that do that say.. HL2 didnt do?

I disagree with you on almost every point.
I agree that WoW should've been in there for success alone.
Although I haven't played Uncharted, I really don't think it belongs in a list for the decade next to some of the other games mentioned.
You say WoW belongs in there but CounterStrike "can suck it"? Do you realise that the old Counterstrike is still being played to this day? How does WoW qualify as an entrant in the list for success while CS doesn't? CS was the old WoW. It was the game non-gamers were playing.
KotOR was one of the few games I thought "this might one of the best games of all time" while playing it. I don't know how it looks by today's standards since I played it on release, but at the time it was an amazing RPG with a brilliant story. It's the best Star Wars game and it doesn't require the player to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy it. KotOR had all the elements that made Mass Effect and DragonAge a success (while I really believe KotOR's story was superior) and it had them 7 years ago.
As for Half Life 2; I really can't say. I can't really express why that game is so great. There's the obvious point made for the story and the way it's told (or NOT told), the way it combines classic FPS style gaming, the variety of its locales and the "always on the run" feeling. I will admit that a portion of HL2's success was because it was a sequel to one of the greatest games. Other than that it's just the way it feels, for lack of a better word. I've played it again recently and it just feels so new. It's fun and doesn't get tiresome at any point (for me at least). I've played recent FPS games that make you feel you've played them 10 times before and are just going through it again because they tricked you into buying it again.
I agree that WoW should've been in there for success alone.

That game has awesome pacing, is continually challenging, lacks a bit of story, but mostly because it's first person, almost never has flashbacks, and never lets you leave gordon freemans furry little head (witch works fine)
The enemies are well designed, the map design is glorious, and the few npc characters who actually interact with you are believeable and funny.

Doesn't seem very IGN-ish. IGN's mostly fapping over mainstream games, and a few of those seem a bit off the beaten path. I agree with HL2 being number one, as a massive Valvetard.
I'd personally replace Fallout 3 with Morrowind (I can't remember when it came out, so if its too early Oblivion). KOTOR with Mass Effect, put Halo and Fable on there and remove HL2.
I only used HL2 so that I could play Garry's Mod, but as this forum is very heavily biased to Valve, can people tell me where this great plot and story that people keep going on about was, as unless it was all contained in episode 1 and 2 I can't honestly see where people are coming from?

I know it's just some random opinion list and therefore worthless, but they assembled the list in a stupidly cop-out way.
They basically made a list of the best games for each year, then just picked the top one for each year and just randomly arranged them. Which is total bullshit, loads of far more worthy games missed out because they ended up second or third in the year they came out. They basically treated each year like it was equally good for gaming as the next, which is total rubbish.
Metroid Prime came out in the same year as Battlefield 1942 and got second place for 2002. It was given a 9.8 and voted the best Gamecube game ever by IGN yet is beaten by Uncharted 2 which received a score of only 9.5 (and only 9.0 by IGN UK) simply because Uncharted 2 came out in a different fucking year.
Let's say you have 10 heats in a touranment, top guy goes through to the final. Would you really say the guy who won the heat with the quadruple amputees is the 10th best racer in the competition, compared to the guys who had to race against people with limbs?
