I think the legality issue is if the animal is a native or domestic species you are fine.
If the animal is dangerous or exotic species then you might have issues with out a permit. Exotic species are only legal if special conditions are meet. The key is if you cannot find the animal in your local pet store, then most likely it is illegal to have. a Reputable pet store will let you know what animals are suitable for you legally and lifestyle wise.
I assume since armadillos are not native in the UK, having one as a pet is not legal. If you live in the south west United states, like for say Arizona, you would be okay owning a armadillo. Pit bull dogs legality varies from state to state, and its only because the animal have a bad stereotype, dogs are not vicious unless its owner teach it to be vicious. Any Cross species hybrid, such as a half pit bull half tiger is grossly illegal and would be breaking a number of laws including international laws on scientific ethics.

Me and my partner own an American Pit Bull Terrier pup named Linus. It's only illegal to own an APBT in a few states/cities around the US and where I live he is in the clear. They are defiantly a breed that receives a lot of ignorant bias and hate from other dog owners, but we love him.

They've been bred in such a way that any capacity for negotiation is non-existent. They attack with no warning, and very viciously. It's not hatred that people have for the poor things..it's pity. People shouldn't be allowed to create sick animals like this. Inbred to the point where they're homicidal..

And scary as hell... Did you know the greatest pain ever recorded comes from the platypus bite? It neurotoxine hunts me in my sleep. For all I know its the only case when human can die out of pure pain. brrrrr...

I found an almost dead baby squirrel. So I picked it up and gave it some food and water, let it sleep on my lap for a few hours, and released it back into the wild a few weeks later. I would have kept it, but it was illegal for me to have it for even that long without a special permit.
