I'm taking a guess here and thinking that he was confused about the part which he highlighted and not what "FYI" means.

I'm a 13-year-old boy who likes video games. No Halo or MW2, but Mario and Zelda. But, according to some, we are a race of loud-mouthed-XBox-loving-curse-flinging-homo-phobia-ing(?) idiots with no taste. I'm a little tired of this segregation between the two age groups.
In a wider sense, 13-year-olds on the internet are a problem too. All our videos on youtube apparently suck and we should GTFO because we are a waste of space.
Why?
Ok I get it you're better than the other 13 year-olds,but keep in mind most kids your age don't have an xbox(it's true,americans).Also,you sound like you want recognition,and thus I don't like you X(,if I'm wrong I'm sorry.

Online nobody forces you to tell people your age,so you can avoid the "segregation" entirely.

Because a lot of people think that they've achieved something by surviving 20 years and that suddenly gives them some entitlement to look down upon everyone who hasn't done that yet. Oh yeah, and because the overwhelming majority of 13 year olds are too immature to mix it in an anonymous forum.

See comments like that for evidence of my first point.
when you reach 20 years of age, it's pretty much a given that you are more intelligent and/or mature then every other 13-year old on the planet. I'm sorry, this is just how the human body works. It's the same as how pretty much all 13 year olds will inevitably be smarter than any given 5 year old. (this is of course an exaggeration, and there will be rare cases where this general rule does not apply, but do'nt kid yourself, there IS a general rule)
~~~~~~~~~
I for one ca'nt stand your "average" 13 year old male (or female, for that matter, though, for different reasons...). For some reason, at that age, there seems to be an odd combination of hormones that are just starting to take place that make them cocky beyond reason despite their utterly massive amount of ignorance. (and the fact that a great deal of them still have high-pitched voices really does'nt help anything, especially on games like COD42 or Halo where their shrill voice blares through the speakers..)
However, the OP brings up a good point. Taking this general rule and applying it to every individual without regard for circumstance would be to commit the logical fallacy of Accident. I would wager there are a great deal of 13 year olds that I would consider "mature", or at least not arrogant.
I see absolutely no problem with your age.
Then again, I'm 13 myself. So I might be a tad biased on the matter.
Ive developed some kind of imaginary line for XBL. If you are under 13, chances are that you are gonna do something of great annoyance. Its almost could be considered a fact. Dont take it to personally, I would rather deal with loudmouth 13 year olds then 20 year olds who spend their lives playing on XBL and insulting everyone else.
Just make it so you can only talk to your friends, and Xbox would be such an amazing community.
Edit: Not you as in 13 year olds, you as in everybody on XBL.
okay you have me at one point I have not been watching grammar layout or spelling whatsoever
But anyways I told you GTFO before this all so your last point doesn't make much sense
It makes perfect sense, you asked me to show more respect, and I stated I wouldn't respect someone whom posts as you have - I didn't say I wouldn't reply; you have been loosing this debate since your first reply.
"As a matter of fact, it isn't."
As long as your not what most under 14's are like. Then no, it's not a problem.
Every person below the age of 15 I've heard using a mic online has been either been whiny, loudmouthed, racist or just plain retarded. Although it's a rather sad state of affairs I find that my bias is well founded, strangely enough they're also mostly American.
I'd like to think this is because British parents have the guts to tell little Timmy that he's not allowed to play games with an 18 rating but that'd be expecting too much.
Its because XBL is mostly made up of Americans. We own the vast majority.
Because of this =
"A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter."
For the record, it doesnt matter whether you are 13 or 31, pricks are pricks because they can be, and in an online envrioment, there are very few consequences for being a prick. In fact the only reason the younger crowd get the majority of the blame is down to the fact that it is relatively easy, if not entirely accurate, to tell age from the voice, most of these kiddies are yet to have their testicles descend, and so have a higher pitch to their voice.
Unfortunately there is always a "bad" minority that influence the opinion on the majority, but most people with more than 3 brain cells understand this, so dont worry about it too much.
Majority of 11-15 year old's are annoying for several reasons, majority are irritatingly impressionable and try to pull the "I'm older than I really am" thing, this happens when met with adversity or people in general, usually resulting to a No-U sort of thing. Adults pull the No-U too, but it's not as irritatingly, prepubescent screeching or foul mouthed as it is for the younger kids.
Also, you grow out of it, there's no point of well, pointing out your age, as at some point you will leave this bracket and no point of defending it (be moot because you'll exit the bracket in a few years time). It's not like you're female/male or of a certain ethnic background. I can understand trying to change the way people view girl/gay gamers (not gurl gamerz, as in I'M A CHICK, AND I HAVE RIGHTS IN VIDEO GAMES AND BAAAAAAAAAW crap), video games in general or something, but the tween bracket, leave it be.
Next you'll be asking how do we fix /b/, oh ho ho, what a hilarious thing that would be.
All I got from OP is "Wah wah, I'm 13 and get picked on by others due to my age." We all go through it OP, think of it as a right of passage?
Here are a list of common attributes of 13-year-olds that many people find annoying:
1) Voice - 13-year-olds, more often than not, have high pitched squeaky voices. Keep in mind that the voice sounds much more irritating on the microphone than in real life.
2) Maturity - or rather, the lack thereof. I'm not saying that all 13-year-olds in the world are completely immature. However, when I hear someone on the microphone screaming, spamming, fighting, or shouting racial slurs/obscenities, it seems to be a 13-year-old (give or take a year or two) much more often than an adult.
3) Knowledge - 13-year-olds generally don't know as much as say a 20-year-old. Therefore they are less likely to be able to hold an intelligent conversation about many subjects.
4) Language - swearing a lot doesn't make you cool. Many younger kids like to swear just for its own sake. It just comes off as trying to be tough or mature, but in reality does the opposite.
You asked for an explanation, here you go.
Take this from someone more than twice your age, this is a life lesson. You're going to run into this stuff all of your life, a vast portion of the population will act stupid if allowed to. Whether it's to get their kicks, or to laugh at someone else, or to just sate that need to be a complete ass, they'll do it; given they have the environment that allows it.
This being said, XBOX live has a pretty horrendous community. I've played it but I eventually had to stop because I couldn't stand all of the morons. You may not be one of those whom we label as idiots, but you're going to get lumped in with the crowd. As someone who was once 13 and had the same kind of stereotypes attached to me, I give you this adivce. Prove to people you are different. Some may not give you a chance, but some will. The one's who do give you a chance are the ones you to whom you can show that you are different.
That said, it's all on you to prove your own worth. Nobody is going to hand it to you, it's not something people deserve, it's something people work for and earn. And I don't mean that in a sense of earning it from others, you earn your own validity by making yourself better, even if it has to be in spite of those who put you down.
