No prob with me. Inless you sing or shout to your mom or friend in another room without turning your mic off which would be annoying at any age I guess

Stereotypes happen, and discrimination is one of the pillars of our society.

So just deal with it, we all have gone through something like that. Just a few more years and you'll be in the next age group, able and likely to hate on those you deem "lower" than yourself.

I never went though that. I was blessed with an unnaturally deep voice at the age of 12.

But to answer your question, It's not you, it's the local stereotype bringing you and your brethren down.

Yea, this annoyed me too when I first came here.

especially the "Squeaky voice" thing. I for one have a very DEEP voice for my age. not that I talk a whole lot but... well yeah I have a deep voice.

If a 13 year old is playing an M rated game they shouldn't even be online anyways.
Well excuse me, but we wouldn't play M-rated games if E and T rated games don't assume we have no concept wanting a Quality.

(I mean CHRIST, how kiddiness=shittiness in so many kid games ive played?)
Mario
Metroid
Zelda
Super Monkey Ball
Little Big Planet
Pokemon
Katamari
Final Fantasy
...

You realize I could easily fill a hundred lines or more with amazing games rated E or T. Not to mention, everything I've mentioned above is a series of games (LBP2 pending of course).

If "quality" means you just want to shoot everything and have it explode in a gory mess, you're exactly the problem with your own stereotype.

I seem to be the only person who has regressed in maturity rather than progressed, and I'm 19.
I was probably far more mature on the whole when I was 13 then I am now. :L

Of course there is nothing wrong with being a thirteen year old gamer. It's just many of our peers are.... well, retarded. They're loud mouthed, spew out profanities, racist, sexist, and to top it of: they think they're better than everyone else. It's these morons who ruin the game for everyone, so many older players merely shun young gamers and throw us all into one group.

Is it fair? No. Can I understand? Yes.

Right now, I'm practically 15, so my voice isn't as squeaky as it once was and I've matured a little bit, so I get a little more slack from the community. Just ignore the trolls and just keep playing your game. If there's a mute function, use it. If there is an admin around, ask em' for assistance. Just enjoy the game.

Of course it's a stereotype, but stereotypes exist because there are a degree of young teens that act in the manner you describe - is that so difficult to understand?
Not everyone can understand a basic concept. **Saad Faace**
Being a 13 year old myself I can say that the retarded portion of our age group is about 85%, don't let it get to you.

It shouldn't be a problem on the internet seen as you can lie about your age, and providing you talk as you in the opening post you should be able to convince people you are an adult.

welcome to that point in your life where your expected to act like an adult but everyone is still going to assume that your a screaming little monkey that needs help whipping his own ass. my point is that your gonna get shit if your 13 wether your into games, sports, or whatever else.

the best thing you can do is prove everyone wrong by acting like a human being.

Most people stereotype in one way or another.

I'm a 13-year-old boy who likes video games. No Halo or MW2, but Mario and Zelda. But, according to some, we are a race of loud-mouthed-XBox-loving-curse-flinging-homo-phobia-ing(?) idiots with no taste. I'm a little tired of this segregation between the two age groups.
In a wider sense, 13-year-olds on the internet are a problem too. All our videos on youtube apparently suck and we should GTFO because we are a waste of space.
Why?
Because unfortunately a lot of people your age aren't as mature as you are. Sorry that generalization paints you a horse of a different color.

You're not thirteen I AM! Quit trying to steal my identity.

OT: As long as you're not a whiny douche then it doesn't matter how old you are. I would suggest trying to make yourself sound like James Earl Jones. If you pull it off then you can make a killing in voice overs.

because your voices over VoIP are very annoying. If i dont hear you, I probably wont get annoyed at you. (Spamming chat boxes in MP games also counts as hearing you in some circumstances). If you play mario/zelda, then i dont hate you.

I think it's because most gamers can only interact with the sterotypical rich kid wanna be gangsters, because kids like you and me don't get to go online and play games.

If he was a troll he would have said Halo 3 the best game ever.
Or MW2, generally, you know if your one of these stereotypes if...

You hit 2nd Prestige on CoD and think you're a military expert
You usually shout do the glitch down the map
Or
Have a gamertag of XxXxXxXxXDeViL441416XxXxXxXxX or something like that.

No, if you're mature and don't fit into any of those stereotypes.

Besides, this is The Escapist... Anyone who does any of those things would get banned (Except for swearing, that's not against the rules ((When used with care))).

Those are not exactly stereotypes. Not in the literal definition of the word anyway. Stereotypes are based upon truth and observation in order to allow us to make generalisations. Ones based upon racism and hatred are just twisted versions of them.

The idea that restaurants have seats, tables waitresses and waiters for example is a stereotype.

Kind of hard to explain, but stereotypes in their purest form are not about lumping people together but to allow us to make decisions and other things that much more easily.
