To be fair, there are people I know who're about 3 years older than me (I'm 22) who bring up the sexual preference/activity of someone's mother into a game, for whatever ridiculous reason.

It's not an age thing, it's a retard thing.

You shouldn't play multiplayer because multiplayer enables developers to keep making brown "mature" games based entirely around multiplayer with a 5 hour single-player campaign shoe-horned in.

I'm sorry, but I'm not paying $60 fucking dollars for five hours of amusement and then the same boring old shit over and over and over again that I have to pay monthly for.
Well, I guess Halo is the exception to that rule. Colorful, long campaign, and good MP.
Halo is stupid because you can jump twenty feet in the air, but can only run half a mile per hour. Halo is also stupid because you have a force shield that can deflect bullets and alien weapons, yet cannot stop a gun-butt to the face.
About the running, that isn't canon. About the shields, well, the bullet is smaller, therefor the shield uses less energy to deflect it. The gunbutt is bigger, overloading the shield generator. Besides, Mass Effect has an element that warps reality. So, if you want to continue with that line of thought, Mass Effect is stupid for having a reality warping element, as well as almost all aliens being humanoid.
Fine by me. I don't like Mass Effect.

As a matter of fact, I'd wager that 80% of the games that have been released for the current generation are on par with Halo's level of stupidity seeing as every other goddamn game has to be about either horror or space marines.

You would figure that almost twenty years later, that people would stop making DOOM clones, but apparently that isn't the case. What they have been doing for the past ten years is re-making DOOM with increasingly better graphics and more subject matter of interest to fifteen year old boys and calling it "innovation". These days, they take those glorified DOOM clones and design them to be played primarily online and then slap a 5 hour campaign into them and sell them for $60.

So yeah, I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like multiplayer and thinks the current gen is shit.

Lets be honest..if you don't match the set age on the case of the game, you shouldn't be playing it. So don't come moaning to us if someone gets annoyed, you're not legally viable to be playing the game, regardless of maturity.
Leagly I (14) can have a 18 game the retailers just arn't alowed to sell us it...
My parent see me as mature enough to have RDR so they let me have RDR, the only game they don't let me have is any GTA which is fine seen as I don't like it anyway.

Alot of people these day's play multiplayer. And i'm pretty sure we all have our story of some fourteen year-old(or younger) screaming in his mic about you actually killing him. This doesn't really bother me much, considering there is a handful of adults who can't coup with this either. But for some reason, adults have started to tell me I shouldn't play multiplayer because children ruin the online experince. Now, before I go on, I am fully aware that most american children are idiots, and that most idiots have mic's.But just because they are massive idiots, doesn't mean I am, so don't put me into this spectum of idiocy just because you feel like it.Some of us can handle ourselves without a cell phone and the Internet. We mostly live in Arizona.
You judge a man by his actions. If your not one of the idiots that scream insanity in the mic, do as you do. Don't stop gaming.

A child can be mature and an adult can be a dick. That's the way humans are and it'll never surprised me. But if you can rise above stooping to put a swear word in every other word of your sentences, show respect to your fellow gamer online and have a sense of good manners then I'll say this:
Your age, who you are, where you were brought up can take a flying leap out of the window for all I care. Show that you can arise from the petty child-like attitudes from a lot of gamers as of late and you've earnt a place on my team deathmatch/team co-op

Do you refrain from screaming into a microphone?
Do you resist any urges to bring sexuality, or the sexual proclivity of someone's mother, into the conversation?
Do you work towards goals, hold a team-oriented mindset and keep yourself from ruining others' enjoyment for no reason other than "the lulz"?

If your answer to these three questions is "yes", then grab your mouse or controller and join the game. I'll be happy to have you aboard.
Thank God, I at least fit the criteria.

But, yes, I have friends who pull that type of shit, "For the lulz" like nuke boosting. I don't follow that though.
WOOHOO I fit too, plus I have an aqaitence who has 'bout 50 nukes from nuke boosting his online play time is *checks* 163 hours and I realy don't like him... He dosen't even do it for 'The lulz' just to get alot of nukes... and he has the nerve to call ME sad.

I am 14 and I could care less about what people tell me. There are a bunch of older fucks (I find them more on Xbox live) who look for a pointless flame war. In fact I never really do hear much younger kids now a days, but thats because I hate MW2 with a passion. In fact once some dumb red neck couldn't hold himself when I was telling him how dumb he sounds for picking a fight online. He screams into the mic and leaves. I think most older people should shut the hell up./rant(then again most people on the Escapist are mature.)

Despite still not being that old, anyone who has yet to hit their teens is always annoying in a game. I have yet to be proven wrong.

Maybe you'll be the first I never know. Adult players can also be annoying but in general people at your age are annoying and suck the fun out of playing the game. Even more when their American.

As an adult I know that I can act like an idiot a lot of the time but I don't play online shooters much so my idiocy is apparently confined to safer areas where I can't do as much harm.

Game ratings though, what a joke. It's amusing how "serious gamers" on one hand talk about how strict game ratings are and nobody under 30 actually wants to play a mature rated game when in "game politics" mode but when it comes to complaining about kids being annoying in online shooters then suddenly these games are all perfectly acceptable for 8 year olds and the real out of place people are 20 year olds who are much too old to play them.

Are you playing M-rated games online? Then you haven't got a leg to stand on.

Halo 3: M-rated
COD4 & Modern Warfare 2 = M-rated
Team Fortress 2 = M-rated

I don't know any T-rated online shooter, around the world I don't know any online shooter that has a rating lower than 15.

These ratings are doubly applicable for youngsters interacting with adults or older teenagers online, and I'm sorry if I hurt your individual feelings but you are NOT age of majority (that is a legal term, look it up) but we are entitled to exclude you as a group.
Remember, with these screaming little kids it is not so much a few bad apples, but ALMOST ALL are bad apples and a few good ones and they don't stay good for long.

(puts on old man voice): When I was your age, I was playing single player adventure games, I didn't start going online till I was in my late teens, so don't you young whipper-snappers come complaining to ME!

Would you complain if somone hated you because they think that you are too old to be playing videogames... exactly.
Also there is such a thing as 'ageism' you know...
