Yeah, Steam pretty much does the same thing.Don Savik said:Its not some evil criminal mastermind with a twirly mustache that has an army of henchman browsing your computer files looking at your porns. Its a game company with silly business decisions. People need to stop all this paranoia that just stems from taking the user agreements to literally and irrationally. You want to play Battlefield and Mass Effect? 2 amazing games of this generation? then just freaking put on your big boy pants and get over it all ready.
The only reason Steam is better is because
A) Steam Sales. Steam KNOWS this is digital content and they tend to offer sweet deals reflecting that. EA's Origin service is STILL charging people full price for games despite the fact that there are no boxes, disks, or manuals to justify the sixty dollar price tag.
B) Steam has slightly better customer support. And by "slightly" I mean Steam won't have a Mod bot ban you from their service when it mistakes something you say on a forum as a swear word, and then customer service treats you like shit and refuses to correct the mistake, like Origin. No, Steams' customer support is either horribly understaffed or nonexistent. I was having a HL2.exe error with TF2 once and my help ticket went unanswered for 2 weeks, by which point I managed to solve the problem myself.
But at least they didn't call my an idiot and permaban me from all my games!
Is EA a conglomerate of greedy assholes trying to nickel and dime us? Yes.
Does EA fund a lot of our favorite/Great game developers? Yes again.
Is EA the only corporation in the history of the universe to be run by greedy assholes? No, sweet baby Man-Jesus no.
I think they still require an Origin account even for the consoles. I don't know HOW that is supposed to work though.Maveroid said:NO, how could you!? Every true gamer would spend the $350 extra money for a Playstation or an Xbox and get Mass Effect 3 for those in order to avoid Origin.
You deserve a special spot in hell. The ORIGIN spot.
... Have fun playing Mass Effect 3 though. I am sure its going to be awesome and YOU are going to get it on the first day because you were brave enough to survive Origin. You, or your computer.
