So, I made someone I love very much feel bad, and the last time I talked to them, they talked about suicide. And this person is suicidal to begin with. They aren't answering their phone, I cant get in touch with them at all. I've spent the last few hours just sitting around crying and waiting. I'm scared to death that they have done something. I love this person more than anything else in the world. I really don't know what to do.

Escapist, please just distract me for a while.

Can't you physically contact them, as in go to their house? And I can't help reading this and wondering what it is you did. I mean this IS the internet, no-one's going to know who you are, so why not let it out?

If you're really worried, find them, call other people they know, shit, send the police to his/her house.

Honestly, if you REALLY think this person could have committed suicide, you shouldn't be distracting yourself. You should be trying harder.

I've done things like that in the past, though not to such a degree, luckily.

People tend to be suicidal just from talking to me though. :/

EDIT: To save others from the suicide the above seems to have caused, I wasn't being entirely serious.

If you want distracting:

You should call the polcie if the threat of suicide was made recently. And remember that whatever happens it was not your fault.

For a distraction go play some Katamari. Or just punch celbrities in the face.

Go there, like now, don't even read the end of this sentence, if you really feel something could have happened, drop what you're doing and go

I don't know why, but this actually made me burst out laughing. You just sound so self-depreciating, and i'm sure there's no need to be.

We're in a relationship. And this person gets very sad and suicidal, but I love them very much. I was talking to them online, and I was awake until 7am this morning, I didn't want to leave them alone. But tiredness got the better of me and when I turned my computer back on later, they had left me messages saying some worrying things. I haven't seen them since. And I feel so incredibly guilty.

If you love them so much, can't you just go over to their house or something and prevent them from doing something stupid?

Find them (do whatever it takes) and tell a epic speech about how important he/she is and how you love him/her.

If that's all you did, you REALLY can't blame yourself. I mean seriously, you stayed up ALL night talking to them, and fell asleep, and you think it's your fault? I'm pretty sure no-one expects you to be superman. But seriously, like everyone else has suggested, either go to their house, or if that's impossible, call the police. Don't worry about looking stupid, the police take suicide/death threats VERY seriously.

Sorry to hear it mate, but just put a brave face on, and try to find out if they're okay, if they are great, if they're not, spend some time with family/close friends.

Edit: For the note, I suggest that people don't make things like this on Internet Message boards and forums, because the chances are your feeling sad, and some dick will come a long and make a rude and humiliating comment, just to watch the flames.

But I really do wish you the best of luck with this matter.

Right now we live pretty far apart, but I've been phoning and checking up and I've got no answer.

Incidentally, I will say this. People who say they'll commit suicide rarely do. I knew a lot of people who committed suicide, and it's always the ones who never say a thing that do. I'm not saying that doesn't mean they will, but it does give you time.
Now get your ass over there and help them out! It is better to regret something we have done than something we haven't, and if they did commit suicide and you did nothing to help, you'll hate yourself forever. You owe it to them to try and help them.
I hope you're right.

I'm contacting people and doing what I can do from here. I really don't want to get the police involved though.

Go to a movie or a coffee shop or just for a walk. Get your mind off of this and away from the house.

I've dealt with people like this - FAR too many, frankly :( They love the attention they get from 'disappearing' after a threat of suicide. They're hold you emotionally hostage. Don't let them. They're probably off having a good sulk somewhere and will eventually pop up again to tell you you should have done more.

Contact who you need to and get the hell out of the house! That's all you can do. Now focus on YOU.
