I'm desperate- any Mac games even somewhat worth playing?

Because Apple stopped making computers about the time the Dinosaurs exploded.

Hardware-wise, Apple and Toshiba are the only two manufacturers I'd be confident with recommending to the people who will be hitting me up for support when they break something.

Well there are games that are made to work on Mac: The Sims 3 has a Mac version, and anything Blizzard makes works as well (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo...). Popcap makes their stuff for it too, so games like Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies works as well. Beyond that, Mac actually has some pretty good freeware out there. My personal favorite is Battle for Wesnoth, a rather well-made turn-based strategy game with three campaigns and free online play.

Just google "mac freeware" and you'll find a few sites dedicated to it. They're quite fun to browse through.

Not true, but whatever. I'm used to the Mac hate. For the record, I could run Crysis decently well on my year-old Macbook.

Why, is fixing a PC that hard for some people? Not that Macs ever crash either. Nope, that never happens.

But as for gaming on a Mac it is Boot Camp. Boot Camp!!! Have fun.

All of Blizzard's games work on Macs and I think Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is on there as well.

i seen fallout 1 and 2 for the mac. only games i know that go with the mac. sorry if i can't be much more help but i am a PC and don't spend much time looking for games for things i don't have. XD
Fallout 1 was released in 1998, Fallout 2 was delayed for years, and actually runs native under OSX as a result.

Beyond that, any Blizzard Title will install on Mac or PC, though you may have to download an OSX compile of the application.

Finally if you're looking for legacy gaming, there's always Deus Ex, Unreal, Marathon (mentioned earlier), Escape Velocity, (though I don't remember which run native under OSX and which don't).

Sorry, that's the best I can do, it's been nearly a decade since I bought my last mac, and I guess it shows a bit.

Uplink

PC, MAC and Linux versions

It's a computer hacking sim. Pretty nice difficulty curve, large fan base and community development population. Lots of mods and add-ons to it. Game is only like $10-15, DevKit is $50ish last i heard, if you're feeling spunky...

EDIT: www.introversion.co.uk

Also: Darwinia is another of their games that is actually pretty cool too. It's an RTS-type game where you control supposedly sentient beings that live in a cyberworld. (Online Multiplayer version, Multiwinia, is in dev or was already released as well)

People fear the BSoD on PCs...MACs don't have one. They just promptly choke and die usually in the *click, power off, cursing* form

Dual boot. Or play Diablo 2 all days, Starcraft and then wait for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 respectively.

Also, City of Heroes is on Mac, if you like MMOs.

Hardware, hardware, hardware. They come bundled together, but Mac OS and the hardware it runs on are not inseparable. Hardware-wise, I'd sooner trust a Mac to a family member than a Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo or just about anything else. The only other company that seems to make trustworthy hardware is Toshiba.

You have no idea why you hate macs, but you feel that as a PC gamer, you have to hate them. That's the problem with you fanboys, you refuse to see the merits of the system you're trying to hate before you hate it.

Why is it that you can't buy games for your PS2? You just don't want to play a console? That's the one part that confuses me.

In terms of Mac games? I've had trouble myself. I've played through some of Blizzard's old games, but I seek more. I mean I have consoles so I'm fine for games, but I anxiously await the software so I can install Windows in Boot Camp (its being sent to me by my parents. Yay for parents). In terms of Mac games, you can go to the Apple Store and check it out. I was less than impressed by their selection, but you gotta go with what you got, eh? I know that there are some less than legal Mac ports of PC games online, but I haven't tried any of them and I somehow doubt they work very well.
