That 'Manveer Heir' person is kinda unnecessarily aggressive in the first two, makes me thing Adam Orth isn't totally in the wrong.

He made himself look like a idiot, if the new-xbox is always online to play games it wouldn't be not that big of a problem for me where i live at the moment because i have good internet(most of the time), but if i went home at weekends and holidays i wouldn't be able to play any games because of the crap internet there.

http://gengame.net/2013/02/xbox-360-has-surpassed-76-million-worldwide-sales-kinect-has-24-million-owners/

FEBRUARY 12, 2013
"Microsoft announced yesterday that worldwide sales of the Xbox 360 have surpassed 76 million, with 24 million Xbox 360 owners picking up a Kinect at some point. A pretty impressive feat for Microsoft?s second foray into the world of dedicated game devices! The company also noted that over half of Xbox 360 owners (46 million) have their system connected to the Internet as Xbox Live subscribers, a figure that includes both free memberships and paid Gold memberships."

if the numbers are to be trusted that's 30 million people(some of these could have internet but did not sign up for xbox-live) who might not be able to play games on the next-xbox because they do not have internet, and it would be very stupid of MS to cut these people out

Don't let that dissuade you. This guy's a fucking idiot and/or (probably and) tool.
Wonder if he'll get fired or something.

I'll deal with it alright. What the crap are they thinking?

"Hay! We have this otherwise free function to play online games on a subscribers fee, not many like it. How about we make the next console always on, which EVERYONE likes. Just look at the recent examples!"

I'm currently living in a backwater place in Brazil and I have reliable internet 24/7, I cannot believe some people on far more developed countries actually have difficulty getting a steady connection.

You're acting like this is some kind of world-shaking controversy. He said some dumb things on Twitter. Move on with your life. There's no need to turn it into another Great Internet Crusade for Truth and Justice Against the Tyranny of People Dicking Around on Twitter.

Not that it's hasn't been already.

Actually it might be a good business decision. Xbox's are sold at a loss, Microsoft makes its profit off game sales and Xbox live subscription sales. I'm not sure how much was made/lost off the 360, but the first lost billions, and the 360 was billions more in the hole when MS stopped reporting the numbers (and the Red Ring of Death is estimated to have cost them an additional 3 billion in warranty claims). Cutting half the userbase will probably make them a lot of money if its the half that doesn't want to pay a monthly fee.

The companies that provide internets in the US don't do so well in our backwaters. If you're in a city, fine, there are enough potential customers to justify putting in the infrastructure for fast broadband service but if you're out in an area with low population you're either stuck with dial-up or you have one high-speed option and they know it and charge ridonkulous fees for their service.

Indeed, I love a good rush to judgment as much as the next internet warrior, but do we really need another thread on this?

His original sentiment isnt 'trolling' his friend, it was a general idiotic statment, which is enough for him to be burned in the realm of the internet
I don't think that it's fair to judge someone by a few lines pasted to a private twitter account, my two cents!

Also that Avatar is for support of same sex marriages.

Captcha: Larger Frenzy... looks like the Captcha knows what's gonna happen with this story! :D

I agree, but there is a reason why people are angry over this. This man has significant sway over what happens next in the video game industry. His opinions will effect how our favorite pastime is shaped and he is spouting idiotic, anti consumer nonsense like this. I don't like anti consumer practices, and they are already bad enough in the video game industry.

Besides, part of the job of a person like this to not act like a moron in public. This type of behavior seriously erodes customer confidence. I am not going to freak out over these tweets, I wasn't even going to comment, but this incident will be filed away in the back of my mind and will effect when or even if I buy the next Microsoft console. Because if a person like this is the creative director of Microsoft, is their product even going to be worth owning?

The equal symbol on a red background is being adopted as a show of support for marriage equality. I also support bacon.
