Anything by Douglas Adams.
Nina's, Damn...

Yes anything by Douglas Adams. I've been into a lot of non-fiction recently myself. There's a great book describing the differences (and similarities;) between the simple and the chaotic and the complexit inbetween called "Simplexity". "Blink" is also a good one about your instincts and "gut feeling" and how they can influences your decisions often for the better.

To list off a classic, I highly recommend The Hobbit if you've never ventured into Tolkien territory and desire to enter that realm. It's relatively lighthearted, has a fun personality, and gives you a good feel for Middle Earth before jumping straight into Lord of the Rings. Also, it moves significantly faster than Lord of the Rings. So if you've ever tried to start LotR and just weren't able to, I highly suggest starting with The Hobbit.

Also, it could just be my vagina talking, but I rather like the quartets of Tamora Pierce, particularly The Song of the Lioness, the Immortals, and Protector of the Small. Each quartet has four books, but they're fairly quick reads. They're considered to be "young adult fiction," but if you like fantasy with a dash of romance and don't mind female heroines and leads they might appeal to you. And I recommend reading them in that order.

Also, recently I've been reading The Truth quartet by Dawn Cook. The books are First Truth, Hidden Truth, Forgotten Truth, and Lost Truth. Again, the main character is female, but it's got some good fantasy and, yes, romance.

To wrap things up, the Uglies series was quite compelling to me and has quite a bit less romance.

Oh, and also there's a trilogy I've been working on lately that isn't quite as juvenile but still has good characters, fantasy, and a solid story. It's by Maria V. Snyder and the books are Poison Study, Magic Study, and then Fire Study. I haven't read Fire Study just yet, but I am waiting very impatiently for it from the library. And again, it's from the perspective of a female.

Grab Yahtzee's Mogworld if you can get it on Kindle. It's not too long and it's quite hilarious and awesome.

On the book reading... dunno, I'm not much for reading books on the computer/laptop/kindle/etc. (though to be fair, haven't really tried it on Kindle, but just doubt I'd enjoy it). I'm all for tech, but books are something I simply prefer in well, book form.

As for where to read, I find it most enjoyable at uni. When I'm at home, I like to fire up the PC and watch movies/series/play games and stuff like that and I don't like going out to just read. When I'm at uni though, class permitting (ie. is something relatively useless), it's perfect. Might seem like a nothing-better-to-do thing and maybe it even is, but I do still enjoy reading some books quite a bit.

Oh and well, on holidays and (nerd mark) beach sometimes. Yeah, yeah, tons of other stuff to do at the beach and I mostly do, but when you just wanna lie down, rest for a while and grab some tan, it's a great way to pass the time.

Whoo boy.

Okay, so, first of all, I am not going to post any suggestions more than fice times.
I do recommend the Callahan series by Spider Robinson,
The Heralds of Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey (Start with Arrows of the Queen! It will get you clued in!!)
The Myth Series by Robert Asprin
The Inheratance Cycle by David Paoloni
The 'Dragons in our Midst' seires (I can't remember the author, but its a series about dragon children and Christianity)
The Pern series by Ann McCaffery
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson
How to Train Your Dragon (Again, I cannot remember the author, but this is a series and rather hilarious. If you watched the movie, you will like this.)
I, Robot by Issiac Asmoiv (I know I misspelled his name)

If I think of any more, I will post them. Good luck with your Kindle!! With all of these good titles, your going to need it.

Shame... I'd suggest the Dune series, but probably a little too long for reading on the Kindle, your eyes will fall out :p Could just check out the first book I suppose.

Alternatively, there's Dan Brown's novels... but dunno, some people hate his stuff, I personally loved the 4 books, especially Angels&Demons.

"His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman are also great, but they're 3 books, so again, not sure if it's too long for ya. If you're interested, the books are called the Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and the Amber Spyglass. Some of my favourite books of all time those three.

There's of course Tolkien as someone said... Hobbit isn't too long and is quite addictive if you're into his stuff, personally I read that without so much as a bathroom break if I remember correctly, literally planted my ass on a couch one day and didn't get up until I went through the damn thing.

That's all I can think of for now, but think you've got enough suggestions to keep you busy for a good long while :p

if you like Steampunk...or sci-fi, or British literature, or post-apocalyptia, or humour, or zeppelin pilots that could be Neo-Victorian incarnations of Mal Reynolds, or android assasins...then read "Mortal Engines" by Phillip Reeve, awesome book.

At the moment I'm reading "Going Solo" by Roald Dahl (favourite author) and it really is a fascinating autobiography, read it if you like adventure or have any affection for his work.

The great gatsby...I'm supposed to read that for English Lit. I take that it's good?

Oh and The zombie survival guide, World War Z and The road.

Like I say I'll see what I can do about mogworld, I may be able to get it in a different e-book format, also the kindle uses "e-ink" and isn't backlit so I don't think reading for prolonged periods of time is a problem... apparently

Papillon by Henri Charrier. It's an anti-establishment book about freedom and prison-break. Fantastic read.

"The stranger" and "The plague" by albert Camus. They are great book, but I loved the Stranger better than The plague. It has a really good story

The sword of truth series by Terry Goodkind: all 13 books are great fantastical book.

The millenium Trilogy: Awesome murder-mistery thrillers.

"The pillars of earth" and " A never ending world" by ken follet. These are the best historical book I've ever read.

Those are great, and will last you quite a while.

LOTR or Earthsea. If you want to read them both at once: Eragon. But be prepared for dissapointment.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl. War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells.

Anyone who says 'Twilight' can expect a firm beating with a stick. Just saying...

Was wondering when war of the worlds would get mentioned
