I've personally never understood the absolute mayhem this DRM or whatever is causing.

Sure, it'll suck if your internet is down for a day, but once it's back up you're good to go. Might be my general attitude of indifference, but I don't have any sort of problem with always online requirements.
People like to play single player games in places where there is no internet connection, for example I like to play games on my laptop while on the train. As well as that it is a matter of principal; the games company is treating me as if I am a criminal, where is my incentive not to be one?

Niether am I! Someone congratulate me, now!

Although, to be honest I never really planned to. The DRM thing just took me from "meh, maybe" to "hell no".
Congrats!

I looked at diablo 3 was kinda thinking meh I might get it. Then I saw path of exile the free mmo and diablo fell under that game. Then the always online, and I laughed as that secured my bet on path of exile.

Seeing as I often get bored of diablo style games and stop playing I figure a free mmo is a safe place to invest my money.

Diablo 3 might be in my future but only when the price drops. I love the idea behind the game but for some reason I tend to get bored and move to other games at some point.

I won't get it if I have to pay a monthly fee. But if it's just online required, then I'll totally shell out for it.

I'm not getting it as I don't like the series and have no interest, but I doubt Blizzard will care more people will buy it than not. I thought it was more to manage the auction houses rather than for DRM but anyway... good for you?

Yeah, I wish I had the will power to not get it over the online only requirement and some of the other crap. But I need it too badly.

Exactly. I was jamming for this game, was going to upgrade my laptop so I could play it at full spec, but now I want nothing to do with it. I play City of Heroes for my always-online multiplayer fix. I want nothing to do with a game that forces me to be online for no benefit to me.

Thanks for sharing. Why don't you go e-mail Blizzard that so they know they lost a sale instead of telling a bunch of people on the internet who can't do anything about it. (and vaguely threatening to pirate the game).

Your loss, I mean I'm not even interested in the series but unless you can't get internet access I see no reason why you wouldn't buy any game for that reason. Comes across as a needlessly childish thing to do.

Shame we get a warning for saying "Cool Story Bro" as sometimes it really is the most appropriate response.

It's not even the always-online thing that gets me, it's the real-money auction house. Don't get me wrong, the always-online DRM is something I'm against, but I'm against pay-to-win games even more. The purchasing price of the game itself should be all that's required - everything else should be equal. More money shouldn't allow you to gain an advantage over someone else.

There's a lot of things to be against were Diablo 3 is concerned but for myself, I've just lost interest, the development time for this game is getting ridiculous (it was announced publicly too early) and I just don't care for it anymore, with every new announcement also telling us how good honest customers are going to get it in the neck I don't see this as a game anymore.

Im not getting it because I live in a region of the united states that goes to shit because of a cat 1 hurricane in which I don't have power or internet for a week.
I think online only isn't really the issue when you don't have power :p

It's a co-op game, someone else gaining an advantage gives you an advantage as well.

I'm not going to buy it as well, not because of the always online thingy (never really cared about that anyway), but because I never liked games like Diablo or Torchlight. Click on an enemy till it dies, then take all his items, then click your way back to town to sell the items, then click your way back where you click some other monsters to death until you clicked through the game.

I always played on the REALMS anyway, so the Always Online requirement isn't a huge issue for me. I actually support most of what they are doing with it (even the item store). Their reasoning is fairly sound, Diablo was always meant to be a multi-player game. I know there are tons of people who played it single player, but these people tend to be a once through style of gamer. For the rest of us who will be playing online I am happy I don't have to deal with people modding their characters/gear offline and then bringing it online. As for the items store, the items were going to be farmed and sold anyway so if you feel like wasting your money on a digital item go for it. I am more than happy to do MF runs until I find it or something to trade for it.

With my crappy net it disqualifies me from owning it. And seeing as I haven't played the series at all, I won't buy into the first or second game knowing that the third will not work for me.
