I'm already not planning to have kids, and I'm a huge academic geek who'd like another few hundred years to study things, so sure.

Honestly? Probably. The brevity of life can be so demoralising on occasion, plus I don't want to lose my youth - there's so little I've done with it! Infinite time, infinite possibilities... though eventually I'd probably get fed up and die. At least that'd be an option, rather than an inevitability...

No children? no sex? no disease or old age? Where do I sign up?

Loved ones dying? This immortality drink is mass produced I'd make friends with fellow immortals.
Getting bored? No I wouldn't seeing how things advance all the time.

I honestly see no downside except the ability to still be killed.

I've already had a vasectomy to avoid ever being a dad so sure, go ahead, what the fuck.
Your my hero. Seriously I heard Doctors make a LOT of effort to try and convince you not to have one and that doesn't include the pressure women can put you under overall well done! (Feels odd congratulating you)

On Topic: I would certainly get my "family jewels" snipped. Living forever would be awesome providing your not a flesh lump with a uncontrollable bowel problem.

I've already had a vasectomy, so bring on the magic juice! No sex, on the other hand? No thanks.

If I am not all-powerful and the only one who's immortal, then it has no point. So no.

I think I'll rather try to make the most of the sixty or so years I have left.

You know, I read that they have actually found a way to reverse aging on rats, so it isn't impossible that this kind of immortality will be available within or lifespan - with our without side-effects.

What if everyone else in the world chose the option as well and there'd be no children to adopt?

At the cost of being sterile: why not?

At the cost of never wanking again: OOH PLEASE KILL ME NOW!

For just a vasectomy, hell yes.
It's a reversible procedure after all.

The vasectomy thing doesn't bother me, what I question is would I even want to live forever?
You wouldn't live forever.
You WILL die eventually anyway, just not from old age or disease.

I would keep some sperm handy, then do it, then get my special lady friend knocked up when we are both ready. Then she can have the immortality serum/elixir/what have you.

Immortality's great for the individual, not so great for society. Infertilitys no big deal though, I can always adopt.
