OK, i know its early stages but i will still rant.

-Few of the new characters look like TF2 rip-offs
-Dont like the new settings, would be a million times better at night
-Dont like new sounds, new shotgun sounds so pathetic
-It will split to L4D community
-New horde music dosnt sound as good
-Melee weapons are unnecessary, i dont see the big appeal of a chainsaw
-It should just be DLC

The L4D characters were great, i love hearing Bill crap on about the Great Zombie Apocalypse of ##. Sure they were cliche and had almost no backstory, but eh i enjoyed playing as them

So, Valve announced the sequel to arguably one of the best games ever, Left 4 Dead. I mean, sure, some people, 2114 to be precise, are pissed off on Steam and formed a group about it. I mean, c'mon! It's not that bad. I for one am looking forward to it. New melee weapons, characters, stages, incinerator rounds, and a new special infected. Can't wait to use the new upgraded weapons also, new pistols, shotguns, assault rifle, and that wicked awesome axe. What do you people think about the newest zombie extravaganza?

Arguably one of the best games ever? The hell are you smoking? Yes it was fun, but no where near the greatness of some epic titles
I meant all time for this console generation. My apologies for the non-specification.
What the hell, I can name ten games this generation that are miles better than Left 4 Dead. And in random order too!

1. Metal Gear Solid 4 <---- I haven't played this one.
2. Uncharted <---- Once again, no comment
3. Halo 3 <----- No comment
4. The Darkness <---- No, i'm not twat. This game was miles better than L4D. It may have been on the short side, but it had good gunplay and a solid enough story.
5. Half Life in general
6. CoR: Assault on Dark Athena <------ Are you? A great game and an okay one packed in one box for 60 bucks? That's a damn good deal.
7. Call of Duty 2
8. Punch Out <----- How? I'm guessing you haven't played the original. This game is pretty damn fun on its own, and brings back a nice mix of nostalgia and innovation.
9. Rock Band <---- The hell do you mean Eh? This is one of the best party games I've played. 4 slots, and usually everyone makes a fool of themselves. Good game, but I haven't played the second.
10. GTA IV <---- Are you? This has to be one of the best games I've played this generation. Multiplayer was as fun as it got with a bunch of friends, and the gun play and driving were very tight. Weak single player, but still an overall good game.
I said Eh because it had no real... I dunno. To amazingly different games. But you probably have never played Saints Row 2. Saints Row 2 has an amazing single player campaign. (But frankly, multiplayer is lacking)
Oh yeah, SR2 was amazing. I would've listed it but I haven't played it in a while, forgot about it. I'd probably put that in Punch Out's spot. The coop was fantastic, and come on, a game like that doesn't need MP to be awesome, just some kickass coop.

Uncharted? CoD2? The Darkness? No offense, but are you on something? CoD4 was miles better than CoD2, the Darkness was riddled with horrible design, and Uncharted was a Tomb Raider clone with a different character.
And what was L4D? A zombie game with coop, no story, and about six different weapons. You're the one who is one something Sir DeTwat
Oh wow, nice insult, your mother pick it out for you. L4D is awesome in every sense of the word, I'm still playing it and I got it when if first came out. It' addicting, a true blue zombie survivor, and I pity you for not enjoying it.
Actually, your mother picked out the insult, and I'm assuming she eve picked out yours. L4D does not have an awesome story, graphics, weapon variety, or hell, even zombie variety. The game is decent, and I play at least once a week, but now you're just being led like a blind fanboy.
Fanboy huh? Give yourself a round of applause for making that claim. And another one while we're at it for attempting to turn my insult against me. I'll admit the story is lacking, but that doesn't matter, all the other things make up for it. The level design, the unpredictability of where zombies will come from next, it feels so immersive.
No, the AI director was overrated. Woo hoo, a tank appears at usually the worst time possible. Such variety. Considering on the first Dead Air level a smoker appears nine times out of ten in a window during the first crescendo. The game is about immersive for five minutes, then you hear someone spam BOOMER BOOMER BOOMER on their mics for about 10 minutes. And yes, you are a fanboy, because you seem unable to understand obvious flaws in the game. Let's also take into the fact that the game is incredibly short in solo player, not to mention solo player is not fun at all.

The game lacks a story, so it is hard to care about the characters you are playing as in the game. The characters, except for Louis, were bland and cliche. The music was alright, however, this is not the case in the new one.

The game is littered with numerous glitches, like getting switched to different teams on versus when someone quits, and not to mention the bypass of half of the entire first chapter by taking a leap of faith.

The game has 6 different guns, and two different grenades. The guns are practically better versions of earlier weapons. The achievements are random and stupid, such as kill 53,594 zombies (it got old in Dead Rising)

I can excuse flaws in a game, but a game with no story (at all), little variety in levels or gun play, no real character developments, annoying glitches, and considering the game has no SDK to offer so far, I'd call it a waste of money for the full 50 dollars.
Are you joking me? I've seen flaws in the game, and I'm a tad pissed when it comes to them, but the gameplay makes me overlook that; so again, stop preaching fanboyism you hypocrite. It's short, yes, but online, there's endless replayability when you can face off against people in Vs. And Valve also tries to fix some of those problems in their patches. Like with the turret and Jesus room, Valve got rid of them to make the game more fair.

And shut up about the characters will ya? They are all really great characters. Francis is a badass, Zoey is a supportive role, Bill is the guy who gives you hope, and Louis is the guy who supposed to annoy people. The thing that I want Valve to do in the 2nd one, is improve on the AI a bit. Half the time they stand there looking at me getting mauled by a Hunter and do nothing.

In an era where we've been seeing longer and longer developement cycles, I'm pleased as can be that a proven developer with cred is making the most of a franchise with potential. This isn't exactly an EA Madden we're talking about here. I think that's what most people are afraid of. That or they're still just bitter that Ep 3 isn't out and they're taking it out on L4D.
I'll be picking it up.
Tough, if they didn't make a 2nd one, a year later, everyone would be on Valves ass about it, so I'm pretty happy with this. And I'm not too worried about the whole, "Valve going EA" thing, they don't seem like the company to do that.

They still have DLC in the pipeline for L4d, as stated in an interveiw with two designers.

(btw, L4D2 sounds like it could be R2D2s brother)

People wanted more DLC for L4D and are angry that it was supposed to be DLC for 2 years. If they like L4D that much it shouldn't matter. Play that while others play L4D2. Which is going to be AWESOME.
We're annoyed because it's a full price game
How do you know? Has it been revealed in an interview or something?

I think it's way too early to bring out a sequal, all there gonna do is give us a few levels, a few new guns and a few new baddies, is that enough? I mean i would like them to spend another year or so on the game if it means the game will be tht much awesomer.

I think what really hit me about this from the trailer is the huuuuge switch in graphic styles. Obviously it's not to say that this is going to be the look of the gameplay, i don't have a clue, but it looks so much more cartoony and TF2ish (not to that extreme but you probably see what i mean) than L4D.
It gives me the same feeling that i got from the Modern Warfare 2 trailer; the grittiness has been removed, for better or worse.

I don't even know what my opinion on the switch is, but i don't doubt that the gameplay will be as great as/improve on that of the first one.

Whatever happens, i'm stoked xD

Wow. I wouldn't say that Left 4 Dead is the best game ever (or even of this generation, although it certainly ranks very high), but you've managed to scrape together a top ten list of games that I like less than L4D... Except maybe MGS4, but only because I haven't actually played it, never really gotten into it since the solids.

I was actually really pissed off when they announced it. It seems like it could have been an update to L4D. A sequel isn't necessary in my eyes but whatever.

The AI director gets predictable after a while. I know exactly where the AI director likes to spawn infected, tanks and witches (the boomer/smoker/hunter spots are a little bit random at times but still to predictable). It's great the first three times but if you pay attention you should be able to say where enemies have a higher chance of spawning.

If they are going to put it up at half the price of 'normal' retail games again, I really don't see the problem. That's not much more than some expansion packs cost.

So this makes my point useless, and makes me want L4D 2 more. Reading the interview clearly states that this will have so much extra content it's impossible to make it a DLC. Plenty of people have the Xbox version, if they made this DLC, they might run into the same problem they have with Xbox TF2 updates, not enough space. Then we would never get this on Xbox.

1) Check your spelling, this makes it hard to read and it gives the impression that you aren't that smart. It also gives the impression you haven't thought out your post much.
2) Read the rest of the posts, especially the other one I quoted.
3) FEW more levels, FEW more guns,, FEW more baddies? It's 5 new campaigns, 20 new guns, melee weapons, and yes, a few more special zombies. Also AI director 2.0

EDIT:

Have you read the rest of that?
Shack: So full price?

Doug Lombardi: Yeah. At the end of the day, this is going to be a bigger game than Left 4 Dead. It's five campaigns versus four, all five are playable in Versus mode, Survival mode out of the box, the new multiplayer game mode. Plus over 20 new weapons and items. It's a full sequel
