To put my efforts in a simple way for idiots to read, this. Thank you, this really is what I think, except it will be a better game. I don't care if the old characters are gone, I don't care if the new enemies are bad, and I don't care what it sounds like. The point is, this will be more fun than the last one, and that was good.

I am looking forward to it. Personally I think that this boycott thing is way out of line. What a bunch of whiners.

So, Valve announced the sequel to arguably one of the best games ever, Left 4 Dead. I mean, sure, some people, 2114 to be precise, are pissed off on Steam and formed a group about it. I mean, c'mon! It's not that bad. I for one am looking forward to it. New melee weapons, characters, stages, incinerator rounds, and a new special infected. Can't wait to use the new upgraded weapons also, new pistols, shotguns, assault rifle, and that wicked awesome axe. What do you people think about the newest zombie extravaganza?

Arguably one of the best games ever? The hell are you smoking? Yes it was fun, but no where near the greatness of some epic titles
I meant all time for this console generation. My apologies for the non-specification.
What the hell, I can name ten games this generation that are miles better than Left 4 Dead. And in random order too!

1. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Uncharted
3. Halo 3
4. The Darkness
5. Half Life 2 Episode 2
6. CoR: Assault on Dark Athena
7. Call of Duty 2
8. Punch Out
9. Rock Band
10. GTA IV
Uncharted? CoD2? The Darkness? No offense, but are you on something? CoD4 was miles better than CoD2, the Darkness was riddled with horrible design, and Uncharted was a Tomb Raider clone with a different character.
And what was L4D? A zombie game with coop, no story, and about six different weapons. You're the one who is one something Sir DeTwat
Oh wow, nice insult, your mother pick it out for you. L4D is awesome in every sense of the word, I'm still playing it and I got it when if first came out. It' addicting, a true blue zombie survivor, and I pity you for not enjoying it.
Actually, your mother picked out the insult, and I'm assuming she eve picked out yours. L4D does not have an awesome story, graphics, weapon variety, or hell, even zombie variety. The game is decent, and I play at least once a week, but now you're just being led like a blind fanboy.
Fanboy huh? Give yourself a round of applause for making that claim. And another one while we're at it for attempting to turn my insult against me. I'll admit the story is lacking, but that doesn't matter, all the other things make up for it. The level design, the unpredictability of where zombies will come from next, it feels so immersive.
No, the AI director was overrated. Woo hoo, a tank appears at usually the worst time possible. Such variety. Considering on the first Dead Air level a smoker appears nine times out of ten in a window during the first crescendo. The game is about immersive for five minutes, then you hear someone spam BOOMER BOOMER BOOMER on their mics for about 10 minutes. And yes, you are a fanboy, because you seem unable to understand obvious flaws in the game. Let's also take into the fact that the game is incredibly short in solo player, not to mention solo player is not fun at all.

The game lacks a story, so it is hard to care about the characters you are playing as in the game. The characters, except for Louis, were bland and cliche. The music was alright, however, this is not the case in the new one.

The game is littered with numerous glitches, like getting switched to different teams on versus when someone quits, and not to mention the bypass of half of the entire first chapter by taking a leap of faith.

The game has 6 different guns, and two different grenades. The guns are practically better versions of earlier weapons. The achievements are random and stupid, such as kill 53,594 zombies (it got old in Dead Rising)

I can excuse flaws in a game, but a game with no story (at all), little variety in levels or gun play, no real character developments, annoying glitches, and considering the game has no SDK to offer so far, I'd call it a waste of money for the full 50 dollars.
Are you joking me? I've seen flaws in the game, and I'm a tad pissed when it comes to them, but the gameplay makes me overlook that; so again, stop preaching fanboyism you hypocrite. It's short, yes, but online, there's endless replayability when you can face off against people in Vs. And Valve also tries to fix some of those problems in their patches. Like with the turret and Jesus room, Valve got rid of them to make the game more fair.

And shut up about the characters will ya? They are all really great characters. Francis is a badass, Zoey is a supportive role, Bill is the guy who gives you hope, and Louis is the guy who supposed to annoy people. The thing that I want Valve to do in the 2nd one, is improve on the AI a bit. Half the time they stand there looking at me getting mauled by a Hunter and do nothing.
Oh yes, I'm a fanboy for pointing out the game's flaws. Do you even know what hypocrite means? Oh yeah, the characters are real good. One guy who hates everything, some annoying chick that calls zombie bullshit, an old dumbass who just smokes a lot, and Barack Obama. Real good aren't they. The characters suck terrible ass, and you know it.
Did I ever say you were a fanboy? No I didn't, so get some glasses why don't ya? And yes, I know what hypocrite means. And no, the characters don't suck ass, sure they're stereotypical, but I still like them.
Whadda ya shtoopid or something? You have no taste, zero, zilch. The characters are stupid and bland, not unlike your mom. Obviously you don't know what hypocrite means, because you called me one when you had no evidence to back it up. You really are quite stupid aren't you? Jesus Christ, I've never met a moron such as you!

I think it looks good. Just wondering, but what about LFD2 pissed all of those people off?
I think it's the fact that they have to pay full list price for it. They probably would've preferred it be DLC. But it's gotten outta hand though, there's now over 10,000 people boycotting it on Steam.

Should be great, I don't know why people are mad/disappointed.

People wanted more DLC for L4D and are angry that it was supposed to be DLC for 2 years. If they like L4D that much it shouldn't matter. Play that while others play L4D2. Which is going to be AWESOME.
We're annoyed because it's a full price game
How do you know? Has it been revealed in an interview or something?
Why, yes. Yes, it has.

http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1138
That's an interesting interview. They actually sell the sequel very well, especially if they import the first games campaigns too.

So you'll be buying it then. There's campaign, versus, survival and a new, secret gametype.

L4D2 looks quite good. The same kind of valve formula that they always end up making - but it doesn't look much different than the first Left 4 Dead. Whether thats a good thing or a bad thing I'm not sure, but I've heard the developers have added some new features in that they wern't able to demo at E3.

I think it will be fun!

My only complaints are the black-guys only group, I liked the variety in the first game. (The mostly white group is justified because most people in America ARE white)

I also dislike the idea of a chainsaw, won't that make it EXTREMELY easy or do I misunderstand?

I would like more weapons, I only used the shotguns because the other weapons just weren't as useful. The hunting rifle was almost meaningless, if you see something in the distance, you pistol it.

Yea, there was about 4 different game types in the first wasn't there? Online co-op, single player, online Vs, offline vs, survival mode...yea, about five I can come up with, and now survival comes with L4D2 off the bat, so that'll be awesome.

Look. They JUST released the teaser trailer!! We can have first impressions but we can't make a decision that the game is going to be bad. Jeeze, can you people just wait until we have more gameplay footage to judge it?

What game are you talking about?

In Left 4 Dead 2, the characters are as follows:

Coach: A black man who coaches American football
Nick: A white conman/gambler
Ellis: A young, white mechanic
Rochelle: A black lady who works as a television reporter
