In Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion what do you think your character was in prison for at the beginning?

Since I always like to play the hero, I like to think I was in prison because I was falsely accused of something. Never gave it enough thought to figure out what I was falsely accused of.

And no, you never do actually find out what you were in prison for. You can ask the Emperor at the beginning, but he just says "Perhaps the Gods have placed you here so we may meet."
Oh gee, thanks. Real helpful there.

I was a member of the Sex Guild.
You never heard of it because I burned down the headquarters and destroyed all evidence.
I got arrested.
The Prostitutes Guild actually does hold an Imperial charter.

It wasn't in the game because Todd Howard would have been offended.

I threw a Mudcrab into the Guard Barracks, causing a mass riot.

Calumon: I turned into a human but I had no clothes. >.<

I tried to talk to someone behind a counter but ran in front of a plate, which I accidentally ended up stealing. A guard suddenly appeared, called me CRIMINAL SCUM, and since I didn't want to PAY WITH MY BLOOD and couldn't just give the fucking plate back, I went to jail.

My stats went down before the Emperor showed up, too. :(

There was a quiet moment in a speech by the Emperor and my character just had to pass wind at that exact moment.

Apparently they don't take that so well.

You mean kind of like this?

'cause if that's the case, then I can see why you got arrested. :p

Generic good character: Probably being required to break the law for the greater good. Probably something along the lines of breaking into a house to retrieve a stolen item the guards weren't helping recover.

Generic bad character: Probably from being sloppy. Maybe attempting to pull off double-shifts for their respective craft (stealing, murdering, stabbing people in the backs)?

What it would most likely be if the canon revealed it: Being the right person in the wrong place.
It makes all the difference in the world, after all.

Let me guess, your employer is a guy wearing a blue suit and carrying a briefcase and he's got some kind of strange speech impediment as well?

I got the game (GOTYE) for Christmas and I'm barely into the storyline so sorry if it tells you later, but as far as I know the game never tells you why you were in jail at the beginning. There is no right or wrong answer, just based on you/your characters personality or whatever why do you think you were in prison? :)
I was falsely accused of being a Dark Brotherhood assassin, so to remedy the situation I joined the Dark Brotherhood as soon as I escaped.
