In Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion what do you think your character was in prison for at the beginning?

I'm just a Wanderer constantly traviling around Tamriel in an aimless journey searching for something that even I don't know what it is. I ended up in Cyrodiil and as I arrived in Kvatch from Anvil around midnight I heard screams in a house of someone in agony. I rushed in and saw an assassin by the window already done with his task jump out through the back. The guards came in and they accused me of the murders of the entire family of seven and despite my pleas they did not hear any of it. So I was transfered to the Imperial City prison awaiting public execution...

We stole from the poor... and the rich and the mildly well off and gave to eccentric talking cats (not khajit, real cats). admittedly it wasn't the best business plan so we declared war on pavements. Isn't it a bit (or rather extremely) late to be asking this so long after the game was released? I'm sure it was probably asked way back when they first said we'd start in a prison and gave us no real answer as to why.

I was born in that prison cell. The walls were my mother, the bars my father. When I escaped through the sewers I saw the outside world for the first time. The glorious sunlight shone down from the wide blue sky and I was instantly blinded because my eyes were too weak from a life in darkness. That kinda sucked.
