In case you didn't realise, my first word was "true" in that I agree that people are giving knee-jerk reactions. Killing the kids would be plain ridiculous and it would cause a never ending effect.

Pointing out that half your posts add nothing to discuss is not an attempt to be a Mod, it's pointing out that if a Mod did notice your posts they'd probably frown upon it.

Well if you want to get philosophical then everything can be deemed pointless. In this case, posting anything that is not up for discussion, if you had expanded on why you thought people were giving a knee-jerk reaction then it wouldn't matter because it's contributing, but a one line flippant remark are almost like a sign for people to call you out on.

I completely agree that most people commenting don't really care and are just using it to vent their violent desires though.

Except Max, he at least made the point that eliminating them would stop them from harming anyone else (as they are too young for prison so won't serve any real punishment inside a juvenile hall). Of course that is an opinion and while I see the logic I think it'd open a floodgate.

If the 11 year old had been left another hour, he would have been dead. The boys were currently living with OAP foster parents, they were sentenced today after pleading guilty to GBH and not guilty to attempted murder. They yawned and payed little attention during the hearing which shows they didn't care. They had tortured the boys with cigarettes, bricks and knives. The stupid news anchor is saying that they are victims and its lucky things like this are so rare.

I think that jailing is not quite appropriate because at that age they don't know what the fuck they were doing. They need to be in Juvenal hall and then be re-educated and then they need to have a background check to see if it was something else going on because lets face it-

OK, maybe I went a little too far, but judging by the things they did, not letting them go would fix that problem.

Kids like this should really be taught the difference between right and wrong. When I was younger I had TV shows and movies teaching me that (this might however explain my rather childlike moral compass, but whatever), and I would never actually do anything violent for no reason.
I'd hit people who deserve it and think about horrible ways to get revenge but I'd never seriously consider acting on these.

It's like I said, although people say babies are pure, some people are evil. If they have a troubled childhood, have little care from their parents and were probably abused then that will bring out their evil streak. I am not trying to say that "it wasn't their fault" because I have been fuming about them all through this thread. Seriously it would be kinder to the public and kinder to the kids to kill them. I have a good understanding of how these boys were thinking since I was in some way like this at their age but atleast back then I knew the consequences.

It's a mix of things that caused this but i'll just go with a simple and broken down idea that they had a shitty up bringing.

^ and that is why spanking and grounding from a young age is important. You have got to have rules and you have to enforce them.

I like the old school rules that they used to have in the early 1900's. If you and some other kid got into a fight the teacher would give each one a stick (or the kid that was wronged) and they would beat each other until they both gave up or until equal pain was doled out on the original aggressor.

I agree, there are some crimes which go beyond any justification. You cannot say that these were only kids. When you get to the stage where you can consciously pick people out to take to your torture den and beat them to within inches of their lives and force them to molest each other you no longer count as a "kid". The point of being a child, the reason society doesn't let them vote and makes their parents their legal guardians, is that they really are not good at telling the difference between right and wrong.

A good assumption would be poor parental guidance. At the prepubescent ages such as here, you can still salvage them and make a decent adult.

Several child murderers have gone into care, and come out to be able to live normal, law-abiding lives. Mary Bell is an example, she even gave birth to and raised a child fine in her new life. We'll find out eventually what happened to the boys who killed Jaime Bulger (they have new identities for their own protection), and very likely they'll have turned out okay too.
