I'd really REALLY want to know what their parent are like... although given how grim this attack is I hope they don't have any to explain at least a shred of this.

Also they were already under investigation according to this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8236990.stm

BTW if this has already been posted, I just read this thread and it's been 9 pages!

This country is going insane. It's like few are left who know, even care, what right or wrong is. Plus the fact they were so young, it only re-enforces my view that human beings are naturally agressive.

Thing is, this sort of thing usually goes ignored. It ain't the first time, and sadly, it won't be the last. This type of incident is usually classed as bullying, and bullying is far too easily ignored, dismissed as a childish game. Thing is, no-one seems to realise that "game" kills people sometimes, and alot of those times, those people kill themselves.

I wish there was more I could do about it, but no-one else seems to be even prepared to try. To most, it's another headline about violent kids, to be turfed out with the recycling, and forgotten about when we hear of the next star drinking/sleeping/punching themselves into a sticky situation. TBH, I'm not sure how much more of this disgusting society I can take.

As for what to do to them, I say chuck 'em in jail. Don't tell them what they did wrong. Only when they realise, striken with guilt, what they did, can they be released.

I posted earlier at the start that I believe thety should be tied to a stake and shot on live tv to send a warning to start a counter to this awful culture in the youth. I stand by that.

But after reading all the commenst from peopel who think its inhumane (soft) to put down rabid animals like these , how about this. I think public lashings are in order, proper tied up and lashed with one of those big ass spiked flails and appropriate number of times. Bet they would rapidly learn not to do it again and it would still serve as spectacle and warning to the generation. Do it enough and you will get them afraid again.

This is really worse then i have heard from most adult cases, most likly these kids will grow up to be serial killers, they do just need to be taken care of right now

i skim read that as i am an impatient person, and i understand the whole idea of advancement, but i hope you didnt just defend the killing, attacking and raping of young children >.>[/quote]

I have absolutly no idea how you could get that impression even from "Skim reading" what I wrote. The only real flaw in what I said was how most of the tangents I used in support of my statement are US-centric where this incident happened in the UK.

The central point is that kids have been inflicting violence for as long as they have existed, including fighting in wars.

In some of my side tangents I pointed out that civilization has never been as peaceful as many people would like to believe. It's simply we're more aware of what is going on nowadays due to information technology. Generally speaking there were periods even in American History where someone could rape, torture, and kill children with little or no societal repercussion. A reality at odds with the "OMG" reaction to violence in general whether it's perpetuated in general or by children.

Well, ok let me clarify; my faith in the human race is at -367.
You're still keeping track? I stopped count around negative 3,000.
Well, I started keeping track about a month ago. So yeah, I might stop keeping track in a few weeks.

Humanity never fails to reach new lows, in my opinion these boys should be killed
In my opinion, you just set a new benchmark for lows.
But tbh these people shouldn't have to be put up with by the public
I completely agree.
they are a danger to themselves and others.
They're a danger to themselves, so lets kill them? I know this is just playing with semantics, but don't try to play off executing them as "the humane thing to do."

Why is it that people don't bat an eyelid when dozens of rabid dogs or diseased livestock are put down, but when the same punishment is so much as suggested for a truly evil person then damn do-gooders will say "you are a sick freak"?
Because these are people, not dogs or livestock. They're not diseased, probably not even deranged in a outstanding fashion. They're delinquents who brutally beat up two other people their same age. They will be punished for it. But the law is about justice. Not vengence, and not killing every damned human being with a whole damned life and a damned mind because armchair judges think they're worth killing based off a one page news blip about a tiny snapshot of their lives. Humans are more complicated than a "good and evil" switch. And it's honestly more frightening to me that society distills something as complicated as a person's psyche so much that they feel this warrants stripping them of their rights as human beings.

I'm sorry if this seems a bit rantish or argumentative, but I personally find it highly distressing how judgmentive society as become. No personal offense intended.

In response to those wanting the death penalty, There are many reasons this can't be allowed to happen. If they did it to these two boys, they'd have to keep it as the standard for such crimes. Sounds good, maybe, but you can't take a death penatly back. If a mistake is made, then nothing can be done to fix it. And sometimes, they'll be deliberate mistakes. With a government as corrupt as the british government, it would only be a matter of time until someone "inconvenient" to them is framed, and "lawfully" killed. The death penalty would be, in essence, the government's very own license to kill.

Thanks for the link and all I can say is, fuck me. There is only so many people and sources we can blame in this so I'm going to blame our consumerist society in general.
What the hell does a consumerist society have anything to do with kids committing crimes of this nature? That is akin to people blaming violent video games for actual violence committed. It is all a load of crap. Blame the parents. They suck. I have come to the conclusion that most people should never be allowed to be parents. We should have a license for being a parent. If you fail said tests of intelligence and psychological make up then they are not allowed to be a parent.
