Without trying to change this into a religious thread, Jesus has influenced the world more than any other human being I would say.
I would say Hitler has influenced more actually.
No. Think about it, has Hitler done more to the world, good or bad, then Christianity has? For instance, think of all the moments that Christian's would love to forget (the Crusades, for instance), then add in all the good things Christianity has done (a ton of African help is initiated by Christian organizations, for instance), and Hitler is a little blip in a timeline dominated by Jesus' influence.
Yeah, but with that logic. Alexander the Great has em both whupped via the ripple effect. Western civilization pretty much exists because of him.

Of course, the nameless guy (or gal) who grabbed the first flaming stick off the lightning-struck maple, thrust it at his/her tribal pals, and said "I bet we could do some fun stuff with this!" has them all beat.

Jesus? You know that most people here are atheist, right?
Well, there probably did exist a historical figure known as Jesus (I'd say the chances are about as good as Caesar existing). Whether you believe him to be the "son of God" or not, you can't really deny his impact on world history in the last two thousand years.
I'm not saying the fictional character of Jesus didn't have an impact, but greatest man in history? No.

Plus, most people here are indeed atheist.

Not sure what this Jesus d00d did to be super special. Im assuming, based of his name, he is probably of Hispanic origin... so did he make the Taco? If so Im all for this Jesus guy.

Though, if thats not the case, I'm probably going with Jesse Perring.

I gotta consider this a good choice - and the US government will never let something like him happen again.

Interesting side note: the folks who go on (often with dubious merit) about how conservative the founding fathers were, and follow up with character assassinations for Lincoln (no pun intended until afterward), tend to get strangely silent about ol' Teddy.

But I'd actually argue that it is either Jesus or Mohamed that had the most impact on world culture. Yes, both are religious figures. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
Biggest impact on world culture? Yeah, no question but I thought the topic was just who is the best human? Not who had the most cultural impact.

Fuck, that title could go to even Santa Clause or goddamn Frodo Baggins if we count religious/fictitious characters

To me, its a tough choice between Alexander the Great or Leonardo Da Vinci. The first quite literally nearly conquered the world, and i believe had he done so the world today would have been VERY different (who's to say what would have happened). The second was a genius inventor, which is always cool.

I guess I just view "Greatest" as in "Impactful". ^.^
Ah, I just figured it was more of a personal preference thing.

That's why I went with Da Vinci or Tesla.

Anyone say Red Baron or Lu Bu yet? Nigh-unbeatable warriors gotta have the edge over geniuses and prophets, because they were the best at something everyone could compete at.

You could even toss in Bruce Lee or Attila the Hun, as they doubled as geniuses/philosophers.

wel actually, the bible thingy said he died for all our sins b/c his dad told him to. I can tell you're a religious nut, so i'm gonna have some fun here. why should i believe in a God who'd kill his own son for the sake of some other murderer twat? not only that, you're still gonna go to hell if you commit one the the 9 deadly sins, 1 of them being limbo which is hell by default so i guess that one doesn't count.

another thing; god hot wired us men to be horny little fornicators with dreams of reaching the title of alpha male through means of sex. however, any time we do go out and do those things, we get permanently sent the the second circle of lust. we're like lemmings walking off a cliff for 72 virgins, thanks a lot god.

one more thing, other religions. there's people out there dying because their religion is different from some terrorist's religion. 9/11 and westboro baptist church made me loose all faith in religion whatsoever (if you don't know them, google them, they're horrible people)

personally, i think the greatest human being to ever live was JFK. he's had to make literally the toughest decision in the entire f**king world. had he messed up, we'd all be dead or POW's who spoke russian. i've always appreiciated him for letting us play CodMW2 on a 360 instead of for real. he changed the fate of history for the better, he also was the youngest president, so his election was crowning achievement for a man his age.

I wanna say Morgan Freeman. He is, after all, Morgan Freeman.

Thinking there is no God is fine. Thinking that Jesus didn't exist is now officially stupid, seeing how he was real. And the actual man Jesus didn't do anything bad, so basically thinking he is an alright guy while being an atheist is fine.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was just... well... him. He kept a country and world in order, all from a wheel chair.

Hmmm, it's actually almost been a whole day since the last time I roared in triumph at how lowly and filthy the human race is compared to the might of the glorious Sangheili. So with that in mind let me get this out of the way:
"DIE HUMAN SCUM!"

Okay and now back to my actual answer to the thread:
Martin Luther King Jr. It really has to be said that he was very inspirational and wanted to bring peace to people around the world no matter what color they were and I like to think that he did indeed succeed at doing so.
I also liked Harvey Milk actually because he did a similar thing for gays around the world and he died for that cause.
