The spinning top during other scenes didnt even wobble. The one at the end struggled. I think it was real :)

I think its meant to be an open ending. You know one of those "your right either way" sort of things.

It was good for Hollywood. Nothing mindblowing, but it was a good solid movie. Also the ending SUCKED. It was a cop out for giving us a solid ending and a cheap way to make people talk about the movie, kind of like we are right now. Also he was awake at the end, since in all his other dreams he wore a wedding wing, which he didn't have on at the end and he could see his kid's face. That and

since the top wobbled it will eventually fall proving it's reality. Anyone that disagrees with me is Hitler. That is all.

Christopher Nolan is obviously letting us decide, hence why the spinning totem is cut short. But the fact that Cobb sees his children's faces at the end points towards that he's no longer in a dream. But that's hardly conclusive evidence.

it's not his totem, the totem has little meaning since it is affected by his perception of reality and what he thinks is the trick. Never once do we really see the top fall and we also never see his real totem
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope your not reading this in the hope it's not a spoiler as that would be stupid as fuck.

But OT the spinning top belonged to his wife and through the whole movie you never see it fall over. Also at one part of the movie there's a thing about your totem has to be special to you so the spinning top wouldn't work as it belonged to Cobb's wife.

I think that Cobb's children's faces were his totem because through the whole movie it never shows their face's. The only time you even see the children is during one of Cobb's dreams and before they turn their heads, and be able to see their faces, the dream ends. I think that's because if he saw their faces he wouldn't be dreaming. But at the end of the movie he spins the spinning top on the table of his home. And then when he looks up and see's his children's faces he doesn't care about the spinning top and goes out to his children.

I thought it was a really good movie. I personally don't buy any of this "the whole film was a dream" stuff. I think he was awake at the end.

We're not meant to be sure. That made it even better, in my book. I loved the film. Easily the best I've seen so far this year (although Toy Story 3 and Scott Pilgrim were both excellent as well.)

I think the entire film was Kobb's dream.

If you're going to say that the spinning top fell over in the supposed "real world" then you're missing the point of totems - they only act strangely if you're in someone ELSE's dream. They act as you'd expect them to if you were in your own dream as you know how they should act.

I agree, and I think it's supposed to encourage the audience to think about their own existence, and about if they are dreaming or actually alive, because life is fucking surreal, really..

I'm fairly certain that at one point it explains that they're so close that Cobb can use his wife's totem. But don't quote me on that. I like the idea of the children being his totem, I hadn't thought of that.

Come on guys its just another Dicaprio movie. Does anyone remember Shutter Island. I bet there's going to be another Dicaprio movie just like it out in a year.
You know he doesn't write the films... Its just chance that two movies with a twist ending involving him are released in such a short time span.

{I say that it's impossible to tell, since it was Mal's totem, not Cobbs. The film explicitly says that if someone else touches your totem, it ceases to work. As soon as Cobb touched the spinning top, it became irrelevant. Also, in the dream, the old Saito touches the top as well, further proof of it's uselessness.}

MIND FUCK! What is going on?!?!?

OT: I'm going to go with... we'll never know. The top didn't stop spinning at the end and you never see him going back up through all the dreams. But at the end the top did wobble so perhaps it was going to stop. Either way he's happy. Plus even if it did fall Cobb could be so lost in his own dream world that he can imagine anything.

Of course for about halfway through the movie I figured at the end it was going to be revealed that Mal was right and that "reality" was really a dream. This is a movie that can pull off an "it was all just a dream ending" and it not be a random ass reveal.

I loved it, and I'm personally in two minds over whether he was dreaming or not. Both seem highly plausible, for numerous reasons. I think the dreaming one has more reasons, but I think he's awake. I would just like him to be awake, and it to not be a dream, just for the happy ending. It wobbled a little, and that little is enough to tip my opinion. All other times it was spinning flawlessly from what I recall.

Thought I will agree that it is a masterpiece and I hope they don't do a sequel. I'd like one, but I think it would be better as a standalone film. I have no doubt a sequel would be bad, I would just hate to have any of the characters die, it would leave a scar in my perception of them all, knowing one or more didn't live to see the end of the story, and I loved them all.

Especially Eaves.
