The fourth movie was total shit for two reasons. Interdemensional aliens and Shia "I started out on disney channel" LeBouf. I thought it was actually pretty well accepted that the fourth movie was total shit compared to the first three so why are they making another one. And even more so, why are they making another one with Shia LeBouf. I fucking hate Shia LeBouf. Also I thought that the first three movies were great because they caught the slightly corny feel of a 1930's cerial. The fourth movie just came off as an action movie cashin before Harrison Ford had a stroke.

Just... meh.
I'm not going to get all excited again.
I'll probably go see it...
Just like I went to watch the Star Wars prequels...
For completeness' sake.
But I'm not going to enjoy it, I'm sure.

Despite the fridge scene, IV was great. A fifth would be nice to see too.

I just wish someone would explain why Indy is aging in the series when he drank from the Holy Grail. He should be immortal.

Get that young fella from Young Indian Jones hed make less of a mess & must look older now.
Umm...

Wasn't that River Phoenix?

And didn't he die in 1993?

Correct me if I'm wrong.
While River Phoenix did play young Henry Jones Jr. in The Last Crusade, there was a television series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and he was played by Sean Patrick Flanery.

Edit: And after a quick check at IMDB I see they have released some episodes/movies of Young Indy as late as 2008.

Let's just hope the 5th film doesn't act like the 4th and get confused halfway through and forget it's not the X-Files. Please Mr Lucas, don't destroy another good franchise...
ok this shows how much you and frankly most "fans" of Indy DON'T understand about Indiana Jones. so kids let me enlighten you about where Indy comes from and this is what Lucas has said as well.

Indiana Jones comes from the pulp adventure novels of the 30s/40s/50s. now in the late 30s and 40s these novels had a lot of stuff with the nazi's in it, much like 2 of the first 3 movies. after the nazis were defeated they had to find a new target and in the 50s they found one, the russians who were into psychic stuff and also ufo stuff since it was a bit of a hot topic at the time.

so really go understand a bit of where Indy comes from before you say how out of place the story of the Crystal Skull really is

Didn't they learn anything from the Crystal Skull? Indy 1-3 were classics, everyone had fond memories of them and that should have been it for Indy.
you are not a kid any more and don't expect to be magically given it back, once you learn that you might actually LIKE the movies

No, I didn't like the movie. The money would have better well spent on something like... I don't know, an ENTIRELY NEW FILM. You know, with new characters, not seen before plot, an innovative new setting,a different method to do things etc. You know, genre-definers. Actually good movies. Those rare gems that make you want to watch them again and again.

To resurrect Indiana Jones? Cowardice, uninnovativeness and; unless the film is really good; absolutely-fracking-needless. There are good scripts out there, but because the writer hasn't had dinner with Whatshisname, they get ignored.

Crystal Skull was a mediocre film. That level can be reached easily without casting unholy resurrection on a good old classic.

I'm kinda neutral on this. The 4th movie was OK, it wasn't as good as the old ones but what do you expect? I just hope the next one doesn't murder the series for good.

Aliens, for the love of the lords of Kobol, ALIENS!!! *cries*
Oh right, how could I forget? The small amount of screen time that the alien gets is completely out of line with Deamonic mind controling blood cults, immortal knight guardians, the Holy Grail, and Nazi's finding the Ark of the covenant, and all of the action sequences Indy gets away with. :D My bad.
Aaa but those are supernatural legends belonging to the myths. Aliens aren't even from this world, they're not supernatural legends, they don't belong in an Indy flick. Some Aztec or Mayan or whatever god would've done fine, but nooo they went for frakking aliens. Makes me a sad panda.
I see your point, even though I don't agree. I'm one of those ancient astronaut theorists or whatever. :D Nice BSG references btw.

That episode of South Park comes to mind where Indiana Jones gets raped by George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg. It seems Shia Laboeuf becomes victim as well.

I liked 4 much more than 2.

When Indy was in that fake suburbia with the klaxon going off I was thinking... "Quick, get in that fridge!"

and he did.

There is stupid and there is dead.

Indy would rather be humiliated by having to climb inside a cramped refrigerator than be vaporized. Heroism is too often paired with 'image'.
I don't think it was that it wasn't heroic, I think it was just that it was dumb. I'd love to see them drop a nuke on a lead lined fridge IRL and see what happens. Because getting dumped unscathed and still closed a few hundred yards away probably wouldn't be what happens.

I like this. A 5th movie is a good move. The 4th wasn't very good as an Indiana Jones movie, but just as a movie it was okay. But seriously there are few films that can compare to the awesomeness of The Last Crusade. 4th was still way better than Temple of Doom, that thing was a pile of crap.

I'm rambling but I want a 5th movie and glad they're making it.
