George "franchisicide" Lucas strikes again....

Really was this needed?
Is GL running out of money or something and he's trying to wring a couple more drops of cash out of those beloved franchises to pay for whatever drug addiction he has these days.

Contrary to most people I rather enjoyed the 4th movie, it had a few stupid moments (the monkeys spring to mind, so for the 5th installment I will keep an open mind and wait till I see more. I can understand why it might be considered milking it, even Im a bit skeptical, but we shall have to wait and see what happens.

Oh and btw, what is the thing about the fridge? the other movies had boxes which melt faces with christianity badness and water that made you live forever / aged you to dust in seconds, and you're complaining about a fridge?

P.S. How did Raiders ever get a PG certificate? The face melting scared the crap out of me when I was younger.

No, I didn't like the movie. The money would have better well spent on something like... I don't know, an ENTIRELY NEW FILM. You know, with new characters, not seen before plot, an innovative new setting,a different method to do things etc. You know, genre-definers. Actually good movies. Those rare gems that make you want to watch them again and again.

To resurrect Indiana Jones? Cowardice, uninnovativeness and; unless the film is really good; absolutely-fracking-needless. There are good scripts out there, but because the writer hasn't had dinner with Whatshisname, they get ignored.

Crystal Skull was a mediocre film. That level can be reached easily without casting unholy resurrection on a good old classic.
did you actually SEE the original movies? they weren't revolutionary, they had plots that were used TONS of times before, didn't have an original setting in the least, didn't define any genre at all.

seriously you should go watch the originals again and then make your comments cause you've frankly got no clue about Indiana Jones and where the stories come from because they have been done over and over tons of times, this was just another take on a bunch of OLD stories

I know this is probably the most unpopular stand in the history of ever, but I not only liked the fourth Indiana Jones movie, I also thought Shia Lebeouf did a decent job in it. He wasn't the best actor in the film, but I didn't think he was bad enough for everyone to go "Argh! Rrgh! Rape the kid!" As for the aliens...they just updated the plot 20 years, going from 30's/40's action movies to 50's/60's sci-fi movies. Makes sense to me. Of course, the movie did have its flaws (talk about a weak villain exit) but it wasn't the raping of the good name of Indiana Jones.

Crystal Skull was fine until Aliens, Indy is the Bible and black magic.

I like Shia in it, and Harrison Ford was good at playing the slightly aged hero (I liked how they took into account age with some of the set-pieces). Now assuming Indy V had a spell instead of a space ship I'll be there

I think I might be the only person on this entire planet that actually liked the fourth indiana movie.

And I thought the fridge bit was actually rather awesome, thank you very much.

...then again, I AM probably the only living soul on this mortal plane that didn't hate navi or slippy either...

I personally liked the fourth movie. Sure it had flaws and the whole aliens thing was an interesting and suprising twist from (but not entirely origninal take on) the whole idealogy of various gods but for me it was still likable because it was Indiana Jones which was a film trilogy that raised me along side Star Wars and possibly wolves.
I'm interested to see what THIS plot will be.

You aren't. In any of those cases.

.....oh god no NOOOOOO when will they learn that there should be only three indiana jones movies. Four was bad enough and I don't even consider it part of the series. And why in the fuck are we just supposed to accept that shia is supposed to be
his son
but then again if you didn't know that yet you are in the wrong thread. Don't get me wrong shia is a good actor and is great in transformers but he didn't need to be thrown in because indiana doesn't need a
son or a wife
because that is just feels wrong and doesn't belong in a indiana jones movie. Don't even get me started on the aliens that just was strange. Although I will admit the idea that its 30 years later is genius but it kind of ruins it because the other movies were about nazis but now they are gone.

This film will be very profitable. Because even though you and I complain that Crystal Skull was terrible (and it was).....

WE.
STILL.
SAW.
IT.

Even if you downloaded it for free, YOU STILL WATCHED IT. Thus, if it tempted you to see it, at least 50 other people also saw it and paid for it (including me). Even when we complain about these sequels we generate publicity, we generate interest, and we even, unconsciously, trick ourselves into seeing it, to see if it really was "as bad as we thought it would be".

I don't want them to make a fifth indiana jones film - but now that I know of its existence, now that people are discussing it, it has already cemented itself as a commercial success.

And now that I've posted a reply on this thread, I've also contributed to the PR of this film, all without getting a single cent. Oh what a fool I am.

Don't want another Indian jones films - don't talk about it. Pretend it doesn't exist. Avert your eyes from the trailers, your thoughts from the film - and even then it probably will still succeed. Just remember, if you really don't want a film to come out, even complaining about it help it in a way.

Although the fourth film wasn't completely awful, it still had enough imperfections in it to be a massive stain on the Indy franchise.
I bet this won't be any different.
Congratulations must be given to Mr. Lucas, for proving that you can have way too much of a good thing...

The fourth one was retarded. Sorry, but aliens? That was fucking stupid. I can't believe they're making a fifth one.
And yet you can readily accept an ancient crate that melted faces or a cup that washes away a bullet wound?

Yes. Completely logical.

At least Crystal Skull was watchable and somewhat entertaining. Sure, it had "George Lucas, CASH-MILKER EXTRAORDINAIRE" written over parts of it but it was at least done well.

Movie V? Kill Shia in the prologue/opening sequence and give us Short Round! He kicked an assload of ass.

On the other hand, I have an appearance to keep up! Without further ado...

How could there be a fifth movie if there was never a fourth?
Indeed, good sir! This is a completely illogical thread!

No not at all. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I had watched the previous 3 a month before the 4th came out, just to get myself hyped and all that. And you know what? The flow, pacing, acting, etc.. it was all pretty much the same. There were incredibly ridiculous things going on in ALL of the movies. There were funny plot parts, cheesy parts, bad parts, generic parts and good parts in every movie of the series. The 4th is no different than any other Indy film except that Harrison Ford is much older. Of course you'll get idiots on this forum who'll attempt to pick it apart and analyze it and make a fuss over nothing (re: the aliens thing... just shut the fuck up already).

I think most people who enjoyed the film realize that THEY AREN'T CHILDREN ANYMORE. This whole "I want my childhood back" thing screams of much more deeply rooted psychological issues.
