actually i own the movies AND i saw them on their original run in the theatres too. actually i own them on both dvd AND vhs, much like star warsSakSak said:I have the films on DVD and the books on my bookshelf. Perhaps you might want to take your own advice....cleverlymadeup said:did you actually SEE the original movies? they weren't revolutionary, they had plots that were used TONS of times before, didn't have an original setting in the least, didn't define any genre at all.
seriously you should go watch the originals again and then make your comments cause you've frankly got no clue about Indiana Jones and where the stories come from because they have been done over and over tons of times, this was just another take on a bunch of OLD stories
actually it's not, i think you miss the point of Empire cause Temple of Doom is NOT anywhere close to being the Empire of the seriesDEFMan316 said:Temple: WTF?? Definitely no Empire Strikes Back in this franchise...
Whatever.cleverlymadeup said:actually i own the movies AND i saw them on their original run in the theatres too. actually i own them on both dvd AND vhs, much like star wars
so why don't you follow my advice and go watch them and actually remove your nostalgia and then see how they "great" of a story they are. all 4 are just pulp adventure novels brought to life
try watching all four back to back and then you'll see they're all pretty much the exact same
Are you mad?! Star Wars: The Clone Wars was bad enough! The movie, that is.jadedgamer said:God damn you Lucas Make another damn Star Wars not a fucking Indie.
do you mean in the early 80s for the movies or the 20s - 50s when the orignal pulp novels came out?SakSak said:Whatever.cleverlymadeup said:actually i own the movies AND i saw them on their original run in the theatres too. actually i own them on both dvd AND vhs, much like star wars

Perhaps next time you watch them you should try to remember when the original films and books came out...
do some reading by starting hereOr perhaps you'd care to name me another franchise that did the 'archeologist who uses a gun and a whip saves a bit of the world from the combo of supernatural + evil' before Indiana Jones.
I didn't notice the fridge thing at first but afterwards when looking at various comments about it I realised that it was just unrealistic.Therumancer said:it clashes with the previous styles of mysticism.
Oh even that taken into account it still sounds like a weird jump to make, I've never known another film series or any other media to do aliens and magic (and then to do it well)cleverlymadeup said:actually no Indy is a pulp adventure and aliens are very much a part of those things, so it's right up Indy's allymessy said:Crystal Skull was fine until Aliens, Indy is the Bible and black magic.
The books, naturally. They are the original source for Indiana Jones. The films also, but mainly in terms of that day film-industry techniques and capability in special effects.cleverlymadeup said:do you mean in the early 80s for the movies or the 20s - 50s when the orignal pulp novels came out?
And perhaps you should reread what you've learned, because it's obvious you haven't dealt with the subject in quite a while.you should really learn about Indiana Jones and the history of it before you try to claim to know anything cause it's rather obvious you have no clue
So...it was one of the last greats of its kind, just taking bits and pieces of a bunch of similar works to make their own...and this is somehow original?SakSak said:It might not have been the first supernatural detective book ever, but I feel it was to 'archeologist saves the world from evil' style to what Fallout 2 was to computer RPG.
