I would like to point out that none of those bands you mentioned are Industrial. And neither are Rammstien before anyone even mentions their name.

Meh, I'll listen to anything, the more extreme the better, sometimes.
Marilyn Manson is industrial/alternative rock. But i was giving examples. And i was just listing my favorite bands as examples. I like nine inch nails, the prodigy, and.. and.. RAMMSTEIN! who could be considered industrial but yeah your right Rammstein is more along the lines of rock.
I don't really consider something industrial unless it sounds as horrible as this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8klW9trVTQ

So basicaly bands like Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Laibach etc. I do like Rammstien (but Turmion Kaitilot do the same sort of thing better, you should check them out) but it just annoys me when people call them industrial.
"The original idea of Industrial Records was to reject what the growing industry was telling you at the time what music was supposed to be."
Quote from Industrial records from where the genre gets its name. Basically it can be anything that doesn't conform to traditional music standards. Which can be a lot of bands, But i would include Marilyn Manson as one of the main ones.
Sorry, Manson is most definitely not Industrial.
He writes rock songs and puts a lot of distortion on some of them but realistically it's rock//heavy-rock.

Industrial usually incorporates heavily distorted synths, crunchy guitars and just as crunchy vocals.
Skinnypuppy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTy8rl8ffQw], Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill Soundtracks) and Decree (couldn't find anything on youtube).

Rammstein may dabble in parts of industrial but I'd classify it as metal fundamentally.

None of those are Industrial though, or even closely related to industrial for that matter, and this is coming from someone whose music collection is approximately 1/3 Industrial...

If anyone here listens to Combichrist, Icon of Coil, VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Panzer AG, or Goteki, I'll pee my pants in joy.
All of them except Goteki, I shall check them out.
Ahhh I saw Combichrist live a couple of years back - their laptop f*cked out (It was an Apple LOL) and he ended up just jumping into the crowd and hanging out with us while the computer was being fixed.
Awesome concert!

The bands I always come back to, no matter what, are Trivium, Dream Theater, Nevermore and Children of Bodom. There's something about the technicalilty that all these guys offer me that keeps me coming back again and again and again without fail.

Personally, I hate death metal and such, but I also hate the top 40 crap that gets played today. I'm somewhere in the middle, like indie, alternative, and normal rock.

Nevermore lyrics are freaking TERRIBLE, they make my ears cry! Phenomenal guitar work though :)
Children Of Bodom aren't that technical? They just play a lot of scales and make it sound busy.

Should try 'All shall Perish' if you dig technical guitar work.
Listen to the sweeping patterns at 2:51 - That's fucking impressive, sweeping forwards then backwards without a hint of sloppiness!

No offense intended, but the bands on your list are relatively tame.

But yeah, that means I listen to hardcore music too. But I'm not limited to that...I have a very bizarre music collection. So I think we differ there, but at this point I'm making elaborate inferences.

My music tastes lie in the likes of Marilyn Manson, KoRn, System of a Down, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Manowar and others along these lines, but when i mention this to my friends they all recoil in pain at the mention of such music. They complain it hurts their ears and they are incapable of listening to this type of music without suffering spontaneous combustion of the eardrums. I can't stand the boy/girl bands their so called music, singing about boyfriends and whatnot. In my opinion Scuzz is now the only decent music channel remaining.

Are there any fellow moshers within the ranks of the escapist or am i alone in the world?

You are not alone. While I can't say I like Manson or Slipknot, I do enjoy Manowar, Mercenary, Dark Tranquility, and just about anything that can be classified as metal.

I also have a special weakness for Kittie... Since I've met a few of the band members on a couple of occasions. They are a nice bunch of girls, and Morgan and Mercedes write their own music! That's not something you see as much nowadays.

In general, I HATE rap, boy/girl bands, etc. I think it's talentless, but that's just my opinion.

People who complain about metal have two problems. (and might I add you need to take the plunge into the truly heavy stuff)

1. Their ears are broken. This why they say it all sounds the same. To any normal person this is obviously B.S. because clearly there is a difference between say death metal and black metal or thrash versus industrial (and yes I know industrial rock is different than your standard old school industrial kthx). It only sounds the same to them because it overloads their soft marshmallowy brains with an array of sounds that is not recycled and occasionally complex.

2. They are stupid. Yes it really is that simple. "B b b but it's angryyyy!!!" Well.... yeah. Did you think we'd sing a lovely ballad about a girlfriend set to music so loud and ill tempered it could shake apart a battle tank? Some might call our lyrics and subjects juvenile. I however say the same thing about harping on and on about your significant other, or yourself, or yourself... or yourself and yourself and yourself (like all pop music). All that other stuff is MEMEMEMEMEME music and it makes me want to headbutt things to splinters.

Now am I a mosher? Not anymore. There's only so many sweaty shirtless rednecks you can throw around before you quit.

I listen to mostly the -core genres (hardcore, metalcore, deathcore). These includes bands like Rose Funeral, Elysia (<3), Parkway Drive, Emmure, The Acacia Strain, Deez Nuts, Circle of Death, etc. They're all heavy and a good breakdown gets me giddy.

However, I do listen to mainstream metal and the like too. Alternative metal, hard rock, all of that. Most of the aforementioned bands I used to listen to religiously. I also listen to a bit of rap and some of the "girly" alternative rock that's really popular.

Oh, and techno. Like Basshunter. :]

I would recommend anyone who enjoys metal to watch the documentary 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey'.
