I actually don't think it matters, but I am offened when my the older members of my family (Read:Caucasian, part Redneck, I'm not joking)were offened that my 19yr old cousin was dating a Black guy. now they could've been concerned with a lot of tthings for her, how she is not going to college and needs a job, they're worried about her black boyfriend.

No problem with it. Hell, I've been in one. Didn't really work out though, cultural differences and language problems. Oh well, shit happens
Those can be a *****, huh? Now, I'm Irish and as pasty white as they come (no red hair jokes, please, my hair is raven coloured anyway) but I did go out with an American girl. Now, she was white too but the cultural differences can sneak in in ways not a lot of people would really expect.

Ah, well. I highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone, and meeting, and dating if that happens people from the world over.

Now, some might take that to mean some sort of sex tourism, but if you find you have a connection with someone deep down, who cares what colour they are?

Look at Star Wars man- you've got green Twi'Lek girls going out with Rhodians. How's that for mixed race? :p
Not sure that counts as mixed race, more mixed species. Like a cat dating a dog or something. =P

But it does put the whole mixed race issue out there. It's not really that weird seeing an african and a caucasian after seeing that =)
It's still uncommon enough here to make it exceptional, I guess, but people aren't as parochially minded or as suspicious of outsiders here as we used to be.

I personally think that the idea of different "races" when we all belong to humanity is a bit counter productive, although I know that every species has its subsets etc.

It's a thorny issue for a lot of scientists working in the area, as referring to people's race is a sensitive issue.
Well, it's the whole political correctness thing again. It's gotten way out of proportion. Anyway, using race as reason to discriminate is bad, but using it to describe a set of genetical specifics is not. It's just like we're not only using the label dog for poodles and chiuauas.
