Interracial Couples

There is a good group of interracial couples where I live. And I have no problem with it. Not like it's any of my business,to be frank.

Sadly it's true were I live(mostly because it's like 95% white), but I don't have a problem with it, if they make each other happy why not?

Seconded in my tow of 11 thousand theres maybe 100 non causcian. I totally agree though. Who cares about race?

I don't mind interracial couples at all. They're pretty rare where I'm living, since this town I'm in is as white as rice on a paper plate in the middle of a snowstorm.

That decription made me laugh. It's so true for where I live and it regularly snows here.

They're here. Although 'interracial' would not quite cover it. An abundance of 'interethnosomethingsomething' would fit the bill a bit better.

But yeah, it's a university town, so you get a lot of progressive (i.e. not inhibited by shitty nationalism or, even worse, "ideas" on racial purity) people, including a lot of exchange students.

I myself enjoy girls from Indonesian and Afghani parentage. This might sound a bit arbitrary, and it totally is. I just happen to know a couple of girls from such a background.

And in case you're wondering, for whatever reason, those Afghani girls were born and raised in the Netherlands. Their parents fled the Soviet invasion.

Well I really like a guy who I'm pretty sure is mixed race though I've never met his dad. Wait, I'm not even sure where his dad is... Huh, I really haven't thought about that before. Anyway; I live in South East England so there's quite a high white-to-anything-else ratio, but I've still seen some interracial couples and I'm certain no-one I know would object in the slightest to the idea.

Also, America has an unusual (if not somewhat unique) history of immigration (voluntary and otherwise) that has led to an unusual level of racial diversity compared to many countries. Between racial history, culture, and demographics in America, race is a very real phenomenon that won't "go away" if simply refuse to acknowledge it. Many of our parents were teenagers or young adults when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. You know, the one that southern democrats and republicans alike voted against more than 10:1?

We're not so far away from some very real ugliness. I care a lot about race. Importantly, I'm happy to see most of the responses to this thread showing how far we've come.

Race should have no weight in modern society. What you are should have nothing to do with anything. To say anything else is racist, more or less.

I live in a multiracial area as well, but people around here generally date those of their own race. In fact, I'm in the only interracial relationship that I personally know of. I'm white, and my girlfriend is hispanic.

it shouldn't BE somehting that anybody notices. Love is so hard to find that you should grab ahold of it no matter what. Humans are all basically the same, racial difference make no difference at all, or at least they should not. Anyone who says otherwise is a tosser.

I've never really found it a problem or uncommon, here in the UK a sizeable portion of the population commonly classed as 'ethnic minorities' is mixed-race. I know several mixed race people, and have done since primary school. One of my former housemates has a Scottish background on his dad's side, I believe, and East Asian (not sure where but I think it's South Korean) on his mother's side. He's from Skegness, by the way.

Yep, I don't really notice or care, I just judge people on who they are, not who they marry (unless, you know, their spouse is a serial killer or some other kind of psycho...).

Don't have a problem with it but I do find it odd sometimes...but what I find odd is that I find that odd when I'm trying to start a relationship with girls from other races. SO yeah no [problem with it but it comes to my attention every once in a while.

Yeah, it's pretty much like that here. In my defense, though, the racial minority demographic is puny.

No, but my parents always say "If you bring home a white girl Blah blah stereotype stereotype.." but they are black and grew up in the 60's so whatever... Personally, I like Latin girls. If every one had a child with someone of a different race, maybe in the next 150 years, everyone will be mixed. But that's unlikely maybe in the next 300...

From California here as well as many others in this thread and there are many interracial couples here in fact I am currently in a relationship with an taiwanese girl (mexican here btw) so I have no problem against it.
