Well, where I live the majority are white so that's just the way things work out. It's only odd because of it's frequency.

Well i doint have a problem with it i got a problem dating ghetto people though.
Wait, what?
I think he means people who actually shoot people and shit thinking that they're all gangsta or like those ridiculously stereotypical girls who talk about "respect" and shit when they're just sacrificing their own reason because of the willingness to belong to a group

If you americans quit bothering with "race" so much, this thread would'nt even be here. Why do you care?

Love is love, unless it's illegal.
That I don´t get. If its illegal, it stops beeing love? How is that?
I think it means like... pedophiles and stuff who think they're in love with a 10 year old or something.

Racism is based on visible features, so of course he would be called black. As long as he looks black, racists will have a problem with him. Racism is the reason him being (half) black matters. Also have you been to the south? Racism is still fairly prevalent down there.
Yep. There is no "blackness chromosome." Race is a subjective thing. /quote]

Actually, there are blackness chromosomes. Of course there are. They dictate how much melanin is produced in the skin.
No, because plenty of light-skinned undeniably racially black people are lighter in tint than people who are undeniably of other races. Race is far more than just one attribute. It's a suite of physical features.

It's strange in my case... When I first went to school, it was in a rather "rough" area. Not super rough, but with a working class heritage that resulted in a stricter set of social norms. After various over-riding events, I found myself in a school on the other side of the city in a far posher area. In this place, the racial mix was extensive and people were far more accepting of others. It could also be noted that there were a far higher number of geeks, goths, metallers, "Theatre folk" and open homosexuals (a little comment on the nature of class and society, there).

As a result, I have no problem with interracial couples and don't really find it strange. Originating from a setting in which Asian (middle-eastern for you american folk) people were looked down upon thus harbouring a strong racial divide, I did find it a little strange when, at the new school, almost all of my girlfriends were Asian.

I am a fan of interracial relationships. It strengthens the blood.

It's mostly true, it's branching out quite a bit around here. same-race couples are by far the most common but I'm gradually becoming desensitized as I see more interracial couples popping up.

To be honest if you trace everyone's backgrounds, you'll find it hard to find many people who aren't even slightly mixed race.

I don't see it as a big deal. When it comes down to it, there's only one race of people, humanity.

I'm from Iceland and I've seen alot of diversity in couples!
Black dates white.
Asian dates white.
Latino dates white.
White dates children.
Oh...I guess I do see a pattern. (Pun)

Yeah, that statement is pretty true here.
We have been brought up to respect our people and culture and MANY, the majority of people, are either prejudiced or xenophobic. Marrying people of a different race is considered disrespectful and shameful, something only the local celebrities would do. Not surprising really, considering Semites have committed so many atrocities on us and the Illegal Immigration crisis.

Not sure on what my stance is, however.

My best friend is coloured and going out with a white girl and I'm white and going out with an Indian girl. It's mostly personality that counts, besides, she's still damn good looking, and this is the rainbow nation, well, my nation...

The OP is Canadian, not American.

Also, America has an unusual (if not somewhat unique) history of immigration (voluntary and otherwise) that has led to an unusual level of racial diversity compared to many countries. Between racial history, culture, and demographics in America, race is a very real phenomenon that won't "go away" if simply refuse to acknowledge it. Many of our parents were teenagers or young adults when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. You know, the one that southern democrats and republicans alike voted against more than 10:1?

We're not so far away from some very real ugliness. I care a lot about race. Importantly, I'm happy to see most of the responses to this thread showing how far we've come.

No problem with it. Hell, I've been in one. Didn't really work out though, cultural differences and language problems. Oh well, shit happens
Those can be a *****, huh? Now, I'm Irish and as pasty white as they come (no red hair jokes, please, my hair is raven coloured anyway) but I did go out with an American girl. Now, she was white too but the cultural differences can sneak in in ways not a lot of people would really expect.

Ah, well. I highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone, and meeting, and dating if that happens people from the world over.

Now, some might take that to mean some sort of sex tourism, but if you find you have a connection with someone deep down, who cares what colour they are?

Look at Star Wars man- you've got green Twi'Lek girls going out with Rhodians. How's that for mixed race? :p

I saw plenty of mixing when I lived in California. In Washington though... I don't notice at all. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever have seen a couple in all the years i've lived up here.

I guess I really don't get out much at all.
what city are you in? I'm in Camas and me and my friends used to say that the only place with a lower black to white ratio was a Klan meting.

OT: I don't find them strange in the least. In fact the only people I hate for being in a relationship are people in relationships. I'm one lonely son of a *****.

I dont care. I personally would prefer to date someone who's also Caucasian, not a racist thing, it's just who im more comfortable dating. No different from me not wanting to date a women who's so skinny she'd break from a gust of wind or a women so horribly obese.

I love interracial couples and have been part of one myself!!

He was asian and I'm caucasian but there wasn't any problem. His parents didn't like me though haha. I have tattoos and piercings and am hardly a typical asian girl. He didn't care though

No problem really, I mean if people love each other why should we care?

And as someone posted before, I am the result of an interracial couple also, caucasian/arabic
