It's kind of an awkward subject for me. I have so much pride in my heritage that I don't want to see a future where everyone is mixed, where there is no culture, no diversity. I honestly wouldn't want to live in a world where everyone is the same shade of gray. Meh. And contrary to that, I've only dated one white girl. I'm completely open to inter-racial relations and I don't hate anyone for where their ancestors are from. It's odd.

I just got back from a vacation in Washington D.C. As you know the city is a major tourist hub and has tons of people from around the world year long visiting. Something I noticed (also back home) is that when I saw a couple that wasn't of the same race (the guy was Asian and the girl Caucasian) I found it odd.

Now, I don' mind interracial couples, but I've grown up in a society where people typically date or marry those of the same race.

Is this statement true where you're from or not? Also, leave an opinion on why you think that that is true.
Wow, race matters to you... that is kinda sad.

I hope one day you stop seeing color, and start seeing people.

But as you sound now, you only see stereotypes.

Sorry for you, hope it all works out better for you in the future.

Are you one of those idiots who sees racial overtones in everything?

It's not particularly common - though not completely unknown - where I live. Fair amount of white/Hispanic couples, I think. It's a pretty conservative town, so I probably know some folks who wouldn't react very well to an interracial couple.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice, or even feel a very slight twinge of discomfort (PLEASE SEE BELOW) but I'm in no (rational) way opposed - in fact, on a more intelligent level, it makes me happy to see interracial couples. I wouldn't mind being part of one myself...

I recognize any discomfort I may feel as either "culture shock" (just something I'm not used to seeing)or the influence of some stupid backwater notion I've been exposed to down here. I would never knowingly act on it in any way (and I'd be an effing hypocrite if I did), and I intend to keep those feelings locked away tightly until they die of neglect. Someday I'll move to somewhere a bit more varied, and hopefully greater exposure will help rid me of these ridiculous mental hangups.

When they say it's about race, then yeah.... I guess I kinda am.
He never said he was against it, just that he rarely sees it where he is from so it seemed a little odd to him, it would be like if there was a country where people raised Bipedal cows, now lets say you have heard about these cows for years but never seen one, and then you visit said country, not because of the cows, but because you hear they have awesome nachos or some shit, and then sitting there eating your nachos, a bipedal cow walks by, wouldn't be a little weird to you?

Where I live, I have only ever seen ONE interracial couple.
Just shows how closed minded the people in my town are.

But, I have no probelm with it whatsoever.

I never cared much about it but I really stopped seeing it outside of high school when all the white girls would date the black guys. Everywhere else though, it's usually the same race.

Yeah i realized after i posted it that i just compared everyone who has ever been in an interracial relationship to humanoid bovines, but hey it made a pretty interesting view of things, i may have to find a way to use those cows somewhere in the future, Like maybe have one just walk up to the bar, order a shot of whiskey, look at people and ask, "Fuck you looking at?"

No problem with them at all, and living in southern California you see it all the time.

I would actually encourage it. It's nice to have mixed culture and being able to talk about it easily without having to bring up a Flowol the size of Alaska to find out where your ancestors came from.

I can't stand them and those filthy half-breeds they spawn. Actually I don't care.

Ah, America where the noun race is used to refer to something other than a competition of speed. Inter-racial couples as you so "charmingly" call them are a non-phenomenon to anyone who's country has made any effort to crawl out of it bigoted, hateful past.

you didn't get the memo? It's recently been stated that it is illegal, under penalty of death, to be in love
Perhaps with minors, animals or inanimate objects in most countries.

You don't see the content of a post, you just see racism. I hope the reading comprehension works out for you in the future. (protip: there's a big difference between finding something 'odd/different' and 'wrong'.)

---

Town I'm from is mostly Caucasian, but when there's someone who isn't they always seem to be part of a mixed couple. In fact when I moved to a city and started to see groups of a specific race hanging out I found that really odd that people would group together like that. :S

In the city where I live it's real common. Asian girls and white guys together seem to pop up a lot, but there are all kinds. I find it to be no more interesting than seeing a blond guy and brown haired girl together. Skin colors and the like are just a phenotype, people. While I acknowledge that there can be cultural divides, we really should move past such silly concerns.
