It plays nothing like Halo.Aardvark said:I tried the demo and was bored by it. It's just another generic shooter. Pretty, by any standards, but still just another shooter. Not so much a Halo killer as it is another Halo.
I'm a bit of an EDGE fanboy, guilty. I find it's reviews true to the quality of the games. 7/10 is a respectable score and it's assumed the article will also be read. Hopefully the 7/10 will promote the demo, the more people who play the demo the more people can decide whether they like it for themselves.Tenmar said:I've always respected the overall toughness of reviews from EDGE. Too many people can shout out "buy this game" and give it 5/5 or 10/10 but there has to be a point where the reader has to make the decision if they are going to follow the review to determine if they are going to purchase the game.
I'm not saying I agree but because you think this I can't say you're wrong. If this is popular opinion I think it's wrong that it's come to this and the review scores have been skewed.Flour said:Current rating systems make a 7/10(or 3/5) a near failure.
Anything under 7/10(or 3/5) means "don't buy this game".
Edge frequently scores below 5 that's why this 7/10 should be taken as a good representation of the game.Izerous said:Rating systems by magazines are never a real rating. Whens that last time you saw them ran anything below a 5 in a magazine. They are chickens that are afraid of rating a game for what it deserves. That is why I find ZP, Jeremy Clarkson etc and a few others interesting because when they look at something they don't sit there and powder it up for you. They become brutally honest whether it is good or bad.
Do you respect their scores though?L.B. Jeffries said:It's Edge Magazine. The only people who write harsher reviews are Destructoid.
That's the kind of exclusive the PS3 needs so people finally respect it, rather than blowing it off, getting excited for the demo.Indigo_Dingo said:You're once again confusing refined and generic. It has managed to polish all elements to the point where it is the pinnacle of its domain - hence, yes, it does deserve a 10/10DeusFps said:I can't believe it when people ***** about good review scores.
"imagination... barely exists."
So its another generic fps. So does it deserve a 10/10? No.
Good point. 7/10 shouldn't be regarded as comparatively "low'. Mathematically, the median point between 1 (lowest) & 10 (highest) = 5 not 7.Holkeye said:On who's scale is 7/10 "low"?
Judging by your rage first, think later approach to matters, I'm hardly surprised.TheBadass said:It plays nothing like Halo.Aardvark said:I tried the demo and was bored by it. At all.
Ever.
Wat. It's a first person shooter and is therefore like Halo? I'm... confused.
