To be honest, who gives a crap? I don't enjoy CoD for it's creativity, I play it because the gameplay is so damn good. The charm comes from enjoying a good gunfight.
I give a crap. My favorite games include Mirror's Edge and Psychonauts, games that are famous for tripping over the gameplay but getting everything else right. However, war FPSs are the only genre I actively avoid.
What? So you care about a series you never even played in the first place losing creativity?
Not quite what I meant. I meant I cared that it didn't have creativity or charm, because that's the main reason I'll never buy it. (I have played it, I didn't care for it.)
Hmmm... I see.

I do like charm and creativity in games, they're always better for having it, but I find CoD is like one of those silly 80's action flicks; it gets by on just being stupidly entertaining.

I guess this makes me one of those pretentious auteur film viewers then, because charm and creativity are the biggest facets of my game experience.

I'm pretty sure that 'charming' and 'creative' are two words that should NOT be used to describe COD games. EVER.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

you must be thinking of something else.
Yeah. I mean, all joking aside, CoD has plenty going for it. But I'm not sure Charm or creativity were ever among them.

Yes. The series is being milked dry, the main reason the game gets a free ride is because its got Call of Duty in the name.

one of the reasons CoD4 was good was because it was set in modern day, so a logical step in that general direction for the CoD series would be one set in the semi-near future when terrorists hold a moon colony hostage or something similar. That way they can explore a new setting and time period and introduce weapons from day or some new ones. and if its handled like 4 was, it should be pretty good.

I completly agree that Black Ops was a let down...people were complaining about having to level up to unlock guns and wanted to buy them instead...now it's level up AND buy the items (honestly I always end up buying useless items and waste my money). The campaign is the hardest out of all the CoD games mostly because there are to many parts that have infinite spawning enemies.Although after CoD4 I found Modern Warfare 2 wasn't all that bad.

Wow. You sir are fast. I wonder how many years it will take you to realize it's 2011 already.

Seriously, it's been years when next CoD's were just new maps to existing game.

Call Of Duty had creativity to begin with? I remember it being part of the guys who started Medal Of Honor getting the pink slip, or something.
Ooohhh the "pink slip" eh? Sounds kinky /perv (j/k ofc)

CoD:BO is the only CoD game I own so I can't compare the older CoD games, but from what I've been reading, most people are saying "yes."

Call of Duty...Charm? ...Creativity? Wasn't aware it ever had any.

Well...to be fair, I really did like the whole "Presidents vs the Nazi Zombies" just due to how ludicrous it was. But the MW series as a whole has yet to really impress me beyond how shiny it looks.

The thing is with CoD, it just works well. The controls are exception and the interface all works well, as does the concept of the online.

Many of CoDs competitors fall at one of those points i just raised.

CoD stop being creative after Infinity Ward stopped at CoD2

Caught it again when they came out with CoD4, and then immediately lost it.

so CoD2 and 4 is where it all stopped for me.

for me this is definitely what's happening they were progressively good up until CoD 4 and now it's declining, their standards are dropping and i think that the end is nigh for the CoD series.
I've replied to a lot of threads like this and I've learned my lesson

so before I start I have to ask

"Is this one of those punchy sarcastic/ironic threads that you only posted to rile people up by implying that the CoD series ever had creativity or charm? or are you being serious?"
because, if the second one I have bad news for you
