It plays pretty much like KOTOR but replacing the space setting with a Tolkien setting. The combat is basically the same as KOTOR as well as the dialogue controls. I found the game very fun (even the console version) and I'm not sure why there's all the hate for it (console version). I know the graphics on the console version look like ass, but unless you have a good PC they'll still look like ass. And sure the PC version has a plethora of user made content available, but that's mostly just re-skins of armor in the game already, weapons that make you ungodly powerful and eliminate all challenge and of course, sex mods.

The game is fun to play, the story is great and the Origin stories are a great part of developing your character and that is why I am disappointed slightly with Dragon Age 2 since they removed that feature!

It's meh. I don't know what I just couldn't get into it and I really wanted to like it. Ended up trading it in after a month or so.

It was a good game without question. However it was far from flawless. The gameplay mechanic was far too simple, One of my biggest complaints was the combat system was far too simple and skills were essentially irrelevant because very few skills had much use/advantage over any other.

The story is certainly above average, but I personally dont think it was quite as good as some people trump it up to be.

I played through twice Once at release, and a second time to include the awakenings playthru. I would say that I got right about 120 hours of play time total between both play thrus, and both times toward the end I was getting bored and just trying to push through to the better parts.

Suggestions.. I would personally say that Demon's Souls is a far superior RPG. Sure its story line is no where near as compelling, but the gameplay is infinitely more enjoyable and beating it and getting it to 100% completion are badges of honor in their own right.

Get it on PC.

It's great, and I personally loved Fallout 3 and Dragon Age: Origins, so you might too, I don't know. So, yes, I recommend it.

I enjoy it, even if it's on 360. It has its flaws (the interface will get some getting used to, and it's a frustrating learning process), but if you're looking for a good current gen rpg, this will be as good as it gets.

Unless on pc of course, there it will be even better.

It's not the best Bioware has done, not by a long shot, but it's still good bang for your buck.

It's alright.
The main thing is there aren't any modern alternatives if you want a real-time-with-pause game that gives you a full party to play with.
The closest thing is BG2, a 10 yr old game.
Or the Icewind Dale games. But yes it is a mostly forgotten game style. I was happy to see that play style brought back and modernized.

The writing is stellar, so if you love games with rich characters and worlds then this is the game for you, but if you're just in it for the combat then you might find it lacking. I enjoy it enough, but the gameplay can be kind of buggy and frustrating, especially when you first start playing. It's probably not so bad on PC.

It's on sale on steam and it's a good game. This one should be a no-brainer. Beware, however, this game is tough.

No, Dragon Age is not a good game. Try one of the Total War games instead. Those take loads of time.

Don't get it on a console. Invest in a computer. This is true for most any RPG that doesn't have a J in front of its acronym.

It depends what you're looking for, Dragon Age is very old school in some elemnents which can appear quite punishing (such as the leveling). I loved it because I got to micro managed my party and play with stats, but others might find that boring.

Basically is it a good game? It looks decent but I don't know anyone who has it for reference and i never trust game reviews. The only other rpg's I've ever played were KoTOR and Fallout 3 and i enjoyed the mechanic of the game.

If not does anyone know a good game that takes up quite a bit of time? I have bout a month for break and I just finished up all the games in my current collection. I'm looking for a game thats just more then a run n' gun.
Basically, it's KoTOR, except not IN SPAAAAACE!

And it is wonderful. Go play it.

It's very good; in fact: it's one of my favourite games. If you liked KotOR, then you will probably like this.

EDIT: Can somebody tell me why everyone says "Get it for PC"? I played it on xbox and it was absolutely fine...

Dragon Age Origins is my favorite game of all time.

GET IT NAO. I think I'm gonna buy it again just to play it on the PC. Along with Torchlight.

Dragon Age is kind of like Mass Effect 1 in that I always felt that the combat was getting in the way of the enjoyable content, which was socializing with the party members and getting into their personal histories.
