Dragon Age on PC is an amazing game.

On consoles, it's a mediocre game.
It's a great game either way.

OT:

It's a good game, now go buy & play it!

On PC, it's fantastic.
Before, I hated it and never got past the first hour or two, now I love it and have completed it three times!

EDIT: Can somebody tell me why everyone says "Get it for PC"? I played it on xbox and it was absolutely fine...
The xbox version had its graphic quality turned waaaaaaaaaay down. And I don't think the pause-command combat worked very well either. And the PC version has mods.

OT: If you like RPGs, get it. As in, you really really like RPGs. Some parts of it can be absolutely brutal if you don't know what you're doing.

Personally I really didn't get on with it. The combat felt incredibly sluggish and the story didn't hook me in in any way whatsoever. I got to a point where I had forgotten what it was I was supposed to be doing and why and didn't really care to find out. Stopped playing. Didn't care about the characters either.

Mind you, I hated KOTOR for the same reasons so maybe you'll like it if you liked that.

Its getting old now but Oblivion is kinda similar to Fallout 3 and I liked that, you could forget all about what you were supposed to be doing because you got lost in the world as opposed to not really giving a shit about the story (that could happen too but at least there is something in Oblivion beside the main story, DA is very restricted, you play the story through and that's it, you can't do your own thing).

I think the game had more potential
I would have been happy with my ARCHER not starting every single significant encounter in slashing range, due to forced conversations causing you to chat up close like a moron.
All I wanted .. is for my archer to have that pre-combat conversation from behind a rock.

Not too much to ask, I don't think.

It's not a complaint I have with my mage or my fighter .. it's just archers that are nigh useless without a little bit of space.

Personally I play it more or less purely for the party banter. That factor alone makes the game for me.

It's a bit too linear for my taste; the maps are quite small (but that's made up for by a ridiculously slow walking speed), the battles are few and far between unless you're in an actual dungeon and then there's no stopping the hordes.

There are a lot of dialogue options which more or less have the same outcome, but I think having a lot of dialogue options makes it better and somewhat more immersive for me. I think I'm just picky XD

Also, there's a mod which gives you a werewolf shapeshifting spell.

Overall it's a decent playing experience, and if you're anything like me, the dialogue will draw you in, if nothing else. But Leliana won't shut up. And the 'violent' voice option is incredibly annoying.

I'm not very good at this type of strategy rpg ( i played on easy ), but i still have played dragon age for 100 plus hours, and am soon to start another playthrough.

Oh, and PC version.

Is it a good game? Yes! An excellent RPG, the best since Oblivion. But that said, I couldn't get into it, had a lot of older elements that some might not like. But its definitely worth a try.

I've played it for about ten hours and can't decide if I like the mechanics or fucking hate them. But the story has had me sitting on the edge of my seat for those ten hours and I've had a good two sessions lasting over 4 hours each, any game that has me doing that is a good game.

Although if you're wanting one you can come at like an actual game rather than a book then go for Mass Effect, it's waaay more similar to games like KotOR and F:3 than DA:O is, and has just as good a story.
