All I have heard has reinforced this statement. I own it on the 360 and I admit, it looks terrible. I'm actually in the process of transferring all my Xbox games to PC (in other words, re buying all of them again for PC). If you get it, get it for PC.

Dragon Age is a good game if you liked any of the KOTOR games. If you hadn't played those then if you like RPGs whose combat play somewhat like JRPGs, but more streamlined and almost as if they were in real time. I haven't played a proper JRPG in a while, so I could be off, but that's that.

If you don't mind the game not creating a universe for you, it should be great. I loved it, but I personally thought that the universe didn't stick out enough to me to make me think about it that hard. Games that created universes for me include Half-Life 2, Oblivion, Morrowind, Halo, Mass Effect, and many others. Though I have no problem with the "standard fantasy setting", Dragon Age did not create a universe for me. I hardly ever felt myself imagining things about the game when I wasn't playing it. I'm not saying the universe is bad, or that it's even overused, I just wasn't feeling the soul of it.

But it plays well, it's full of all kinds of fun stuff, and it's only $30. You might as well get it now, so that if you like it, it will only be a little while until the next one comes out. Then you can continue with the setting fresh in your head.

Loads of people I know adore it, I was never one for its slow combat system, but hey, the story is pretty good.

It's more like KOTOR and less like Fallout 3.

It's bioware, like the kotor games, so this shouldnt surprise you that the structure is similar. If you are into RPGs - then go for it, Dragon Age is very good. It's best played in PC I hear.

It's alright.
The main thing is there aren't any modern alternatives if you want a real-time-with-pause game that gives you a full party to play with.
The closest thing is BG2, a 10 yr old game.
There are Drakensang and NWN2.
I've only heared bad things about those 2 games, so I'm not touching them.

May I recommend Final Fantasy 11? The game is a subscription-based game and comes with 30 day Free Trial. It is an outdated game but the game is being consistently updated.

I beg to differ, it's still a great game on consoles though the combat gives you less control and is a bit clunky.

I actually prefer the console version.

Either way, it's a great game. I don't really think it's ugly, but I still play Knights of the Old Republic every now and then (which is a good comparison to Dragon Age as far as combat goes). It gives you a good many options on how to build a character. I have fun just toying with the leveling system.
