It use to see things like IMO, or SP? and be able to look up what those letters meant, but nowadays I can't help but notice people are just making them up at their leisure. Does anyone else feel this way? Or have we just gone crazy.

I for one will be god-damned it language evolves!
I know it's done it for hundreds of years, and will do it for hundreds more, but THIS evolution is different. THIS evolution is more like de-evolution! Eh? EH? Ya!

So let's all join hands and nostalgically pine for an arbitrary point in linguistic progress as thought it was our only fucking son.

Well, it hasn't stopped at people making things up, I have noticed people start to say them. I hear people say stuff like "I loled so hard" or "omg are you serious" it really has gotten out of hand and is getting pretty pathetic in my opinion.

Who cares, live and let live.

If people want to abbreviate entire sentences, then let them.

As opposed to rounding them all up?
And then what? Putting them in gas chambers? Have fun with that my good man.

Fact is, we get annoyed or even offended by what others sometimes do. That doesn't mean what they are doing is wrong, though.

Well I was gonna say put them in camps, but you've skipped a step.

I don't think this is a question of morality, I don't find "leet speak" annoying, it's more about being able to understand what other people are saying. Feel free to defend a person's right to speak however they want, I will be busy preparing to learn how to better express my ideas so others can understand them.

Right on, so you only have about 110-115 more languages to go before you can really say you understand everyone.

wtf u talkin bout?!1

Just playing, Magnetic. Indeed, it's getting out of hand. Sure, a while ago it was "Yeah, okay, that's interesting..." Now it's "Okay, that's just hurting my head to even try to read."

Their common defense is "It's easier" or "faster". Alright, so when ever you ask me for something I type "no" because it's easier then "yes". And, if you want my opinion, I'll just refuse to write out my opinion or my reason behind any arguments due to it's easier and faster for me. If they don't bother spelling fully, why should I bother helping them or even respond to them?
