Just wondering is it ever okay to camp when your sniping, defending an objective or any other situation?

Camping's a legitimate strategy. It's just games like Call of Duty unbalance it and make it harder to kill them.

For example: Sniper in slot one, shotgun in slot two.

If you're defending an objective, it's not camping. It's 'defending the objective'.

I think that generally if you camp a spot you're just doing it wrong. Not because it makes you 'too good' at the game, that's a pretty piss weak excuse. "You're not moving or performing any sort of evasive maneouvres and that means you keep killing me!" Uh... what? Sorry, if some guy keeps picking you off because you keep coming round the same route, and despite the fact he's not moving you can't put a bullet in him, that's not him being good, that's you being awful.

The best 'snipers' move around all the time, to make sure they're always catching the enemy off guard.

Camping is a good way to get kills and to protect something. If I want to make sure my flag isn't stolen I'm gonna guard it, not camp it, guard it.

If I see an enemy is about to walk through a door that I'm near I'm gonna ambush him, not camp, ambush him. If I find a good spot for sniping, I will utilize it. I'm not cheating, I'm playing within the confines of the game.

It's fine, I don't but I'm pants with a sniper rifle. It's annoying when someone is really good, but it's a legitimate tactic.

I don't camp per-say...I just get really scared that I'm gonna die and hunker in random areas behind furnature or in corners

...and shoot everything that moves...

but camping is fine in my opinion...most of the time...ish...

That depends. Camping is perfectly valid if you are sniping, defending some kind of choke point, something like that. Spawn camping is just dickery.
Then there's my old bad habit of throwing prox mines in the vent above the toilet stall in Facility on Goldeneye...

It is always okay to camp as long as the server rules don't say otherwise.

It's a valid strategy, although I will admit there are areas that can make it imba.

It still is a valid strategy, though.

Yes, of course.

Just get a couple of friends, some food, a few tents depending on how many you are, matches, you know, everything you'd need on a camping trip.

Just remember to camp somewhere youre allowed to do so.

..We are talking about camping, arent we?

EDIT: by the way, my avatar's even a picture of camping.

I play recon on BC2 on multiplayer quite often. The best way to do that is to find a good hiding spot with a good view and stay put. Moving around makes it insultingly easy to get countersniped I've noticed.

Only when defending a certain area or object.
Any other reason isn't valid, though i find that pseudo camping can be OK for those(staying in a area for a short time[1 or 2 kills] then moving to a completely different area, racking up kills as you move).

Sometimes you have to hold ground because theres nowhere else to go.

But I dont like camping when an entire "Attacking team" in BFBC2 rush sits around camping with recon and does nothing but snipe and call mortar and not even doing it properly. Thus leading to the few that do attack are outnumbered and outgunned.

It really depends on the game tbh.

Excellent strategy! I always find it fun to slowly move towards someone while holding the riot shield and laugh as they panic fire into the shield and hope they don't have Semtex!

Is there any question? Yes, it's kinda cheap, but what are you supposed to do with a sniper rifle? And for the record (and just to those people on X-Box Live) There's a difference between camping and defending the objective.
