The only odd thing about it is the cost. From what I've heard, a translated version costs a hell of a lot of money.

It would be a lot weirder if it were the non-translated version and it was signed by Hitler with x's and o's at the end.

No it isn't odd it's actually an interesting read to see how charasmatic and persuasive his wording was and why he was able to gather so many followers all from the way he spoke his words, I've read a few different extracts in my history class and i was thinking about getting a translated copy myself.

Not at all. I'd like to read it sometime. Hitler might have done terrible things but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read stuff he wrote. It's history and we should learn more about it and not feel all weird about it.

I should probably insert a facepalm graphic here, but I can't be bothered. Nazis may self-profess as christians, but they are not christians, by definition. Obvious statement is obvious.

Guess I should keep a copy of your user profile close at hand, then.

I do. So what? Am I not entitled to have my opinions about people?
Not as an offensive enemy to but as an enemy of logic and reason, which I hold dear to me.
Christianity and logic are not mutually exclusive, but I suspect this is a belief system that you hold as dear as I do my own, so there's probably little value in treading this ground.

Like me with Lord of the Rings... :p

OT: Nah, nothing wrong with owning it at all. As long as he doesn't have pages marked and worrying phrases highlighted and evil sounding footnotes scrawled over the pages that is... I wouldn't mind having a copy either. Might be a tad interesting. I might even buy a copy someday. I mean it's not like the bastard will be getting any royalties.

Sure it's odd, but so is watching one of those weird Nazi or Maoism propaganda movies.

It would be a little uncomfortable though to walk into somebody's house and see Mein Kampf casually sitting in their bookcase.

More like obvious self-justification, IMO.

By this argument, the Inquisition was not christian, nor the crusaders. Maybe Hitler and his henchmen used religion as a tool, but those who followed his order were christians and gladly followed their orders without questionning the "christian morality" of their acts.

Unlike you, I happen to live in a country directly concerned by this period of history, and we don't learn about it only with movies and tv shows, as "something that happened somewhere else in the world". And I am old enough to have heard what it was like directly from people who lived through it, in my own family.

You might think they were "un-christian-like", but from their point of view, they did the work of God.

Hitler wasn't born to be a writer. My history professor warned us off it. Terrible grammar, redundant ideas, contradictions every few pages...it sounds really bad.
OP: It isn't weird. I plan to get a copy one day.

I've read a lot of Mein Kampf in English and to tell you the truth Hitler is a very boring and not very good author. The book is really really boring and tedious and most analyzers agree that there isn't much in it that can give you any information on Hitler's psyche, there are only few parts where he goes into his theories of everything and what he wanted for the world.

Do you consider Christians as an enemy?
I think it was somewhat of a joke. Although I'd have thrown all holy books in with that joke.

OT: Nothing to worry about really, unless you've noticed he's blindingly racist.

Obvious troll is obvious. On the off chance that you aren't trolling, you might not want to compare the writings of one of history's most despised leaders with the holy book of roughly 2 billion people. It tends to spark a bit of controversy.

EDIT OP: I don't think it's wrong, he may just have an interest in history. Now if he displayed anti semetic qualities then I might be concerned.

Not weird at all. Hitler was a remarkable man in many ways if you can temporarily overlook all that sweaty hate.
He was good at giving speeches. That's about it. He was a pretty terrible leader, people are really misinformed about him.

It is weird as time goes on more and more people are saying "Besides the holocaust he was a great leader!". Not true. He did nothing for their inflated economy and succeeded on charisma and brutality. His ability to move a country with words and create proper scapegoats gave him the image of success when in reality Germany continued to be a fiscal nightmare. Also if German science wasn't so advanced and Europe didn't appease him so easily he would have been squashed before he could even said blitzkrieg. He was a pretty terrible military mind. And a pretty terrible excuse for a human being.

OT: If your dad is interested in history than no...but if not then i have no idea, ask him about it.
He was a good painter and decorator. Mad Skillz.
He got kicked out of art school so I am not sure he had "mad skillz".

Most Christians that bothered to claim that they are such, weren't by definition.
But to get back to the historical point.Yes the majority of the Nazis where Christians like in members of the Church(es).
But the Higher ranks of the SS were already planning a new Volksreligion on made up Myths mixed with a little germanic mythology. I spend a week at the Wewelsburg, the castle that was the former Centre of the Order and Cult of the SS. Impressive Architecture and a lot of weird things to learn there.
They also re-designed the village around the castle in their new image. A mix up of traditional german timbered houses with germanic/viking longhouses. Decorated with totems symbols and runes.
