Well i go out an socialise with my friends most of which are gamers or casual gamers anyway, but still id spend more time with them in an average week than playing games .unless i get a new game then i lock myself away in my room untill its done
but still being a gamer doesnt mean you have to be anti social.

Of course its alright to be a gamer. Whatever floats your boat and all that.

I get angry when people epitomize gamers as rabid overweight basement-lurkers that eat anything with flesh, disintergrate at sunlight and have hair longer than the queue of people at an NHS hopsital.
^exactly this.^ personally i dont find a problem with being a gamer, because where i live there is bugger all else to do other than hang around outside tesco drinking cheap cider. and no i dont do that

Barak Obama also wants me to pay for everyone elses health care. I'll stick to my xbox.

As for the rest of your post, I play Halo, CoD, and what ever else with members of my unit. None of us are exactly the nerdy type, as we have all seen front line combat and killed at least one person in anger.

Gaming is a way to unwind and have fun with friends, I don't think that should be viewed as being the exclusive domain of "basement dwelling cheeto feinds"
Where are you deployed to?

Instead of complaining you could start by doing the following:

- Working out AND eating more
- Getting a tan
- Meet a women by any means then let her introduce her to her friends and so on.
- Find a job (Being 16 is enough for any quick cash jobs)

Belive me, when I was 15 (which was about almost 3years ago still) I realized what you realized now, and did what I just told you and everything changed pretty dam good for me.

I got a nice tan and a pretty good riped body. I have more than enough girls as friends (and a girl friend of course) and I been with loads of ladys, plus I'm in the military so I get even more benefit from it.

You could just say that i'm bragging or actually listen. Either way it's your life kiddo.
Just remember by the time your 20 and if your still like this then it's pretty much over or really hard to get back on track.

I'm not saying being a Gamer is bad but you will end up regreting it with no REAL social life.
Just professional advice kid.

Yep, follow this man's simple guide and you can game and have a life. I'm 17 now, with one more semester 'til I get my associate's degree, got a girl, got a job, got a car, it's all good. Gaming's fine as long as it doesn't affect the rest of your life negatively.

there's nothing wrong with liking games but you need to hang out with people you know face to face too. you don't need to go on drinking binges or anything like that but hang out go to the movies or golfing or whatever you and your friends enjoy doing.

Unsocial?
Games are the only reason I have friends.
That and Televison.
You need to rethink your argument.

But I suppose it is bad if you're trying out for sports or are going into the Army, (Counterstrike isn't real, if you use the word Deagle, you will be laughed out of the room, you fanboy)

Also I've had three girlfriends and I'm fifteen.
So stop now please.

Honestly i think that there is nothing wrong with gameing. If you find something you enjoy doing there is no point in ever stoping as long as you still enjoy it... or as long as it isnt illegal. If your not compatable with people thats fine but it's important to be able to tolerate them. So you should probly go out with friends anyway and take it like the cough drop it is; it will save you a lot of hastle latter in life.

Society is filled with unaccepting jackasses of different cultures, religions and beliefs that think that everyone should act a certain way and you're strange and need help if you don't.

Personally I don't care what anyone thinks, believe what you will everything is fine, but force your beliefs and your a jackass. Everyone is different and EVERYONE has different ideals, beliefs and interests, most people don't understand gaming culture seeing it as a waste of time and filled with influential violence while it's more on par with a sport or reading per say.

When I told my parents I was asexual, they accepted it, but I got dragged off to the doctors anyway to have my blood done to see if something was wrong. My blood came up low testosterone but the doctor laughed and said to try it again (probably because of how I look), after that BS was done I was found to have normal everything. It just turns out I'm one of those "unlucky freaks" who's different *is being sarcastic*.

Ending the rant since I'm dragging on and getting slightly off topic, gaming is a different culture, we're a new generation with strange hobbies and even weirder definitions of social. I got laughs from family when I said I had an "internet friend who lives in another state" but people are actually warming up to these strange ideas (mostly this generation mind you) as it's getting more common because of the world being so gosh darn big.

It really depends on what you do instead.
Me, I gave up gaming for a week this summer, and got more work done around the house in that week then in the entire rest of the summer.

Of course it's okay. Personally, I'm a god-fearing guy, and I believe whatever course is set before me, is one I am to take. My uncle on one fateful Christmas bought me a Nintendo 64. And from Star Wars: Rogue Squadron to Gears of War 2, I've been a gamer since. If he had bought me a football or skateboard maybe things would be different. But as life is now, I accept myself as a gamer who enjoys being a homicidal maniac (in a game). However, I don't see myself as a pale faced nerd. Just your normal dude who likes flirtin' with the ladies and hanging with friends at the movies. I'm just also a level 45 Brigadier in Halo =).

But on a more political note i think that gaming should be more accepted in todays society. As i feel that people who preach that gaming is "wrong" are misinformed.
one second let me edit that**smug smug**

I find it to be OK to be a gamer. As long as you don't take the game to seriously, allow others (along with yourself) to have a good time, and you don't over do playing games.

Well no, most of my friends are gamers or X gamers of the alike, with resposibilites and what not, Gamers have the single most important personalities, we are funnier and most of the time better looking, but becuase we choose to spend our weekends or whatever time we are doing something els we are considered complete freaks, its quite insane personaly im epic on all capable levels. I believe so! and I got a girlfriend with my incapable as the dickheadish ones of this world say "anti-social" Take that!
