No. Gaming is a scourge, a blight upon the world. Its armies are the unwashed, filthy scurrying masses of greasy, socially awkward nerds, just waiting for their chance to ogle, grope and do other sinful actions upon all and every females present in the world. Its weapons are escapism, promises of virtual greatness, ability to exist, unhindered by all the disabilities which would make the typical nerd unfit for real life. Its propaganda is the ever-increasing, always creeping presence of game advertisements in the real media, amidst the real problems like famine, terror and poverty, always swaying people, always trying to corrupt the youth into another unprovoked display of gaming-induced violence. Wait, where was I? I lost my train of thought. Well, what with all this writing, reading, going to the gym, going out with friends, running, studying at university, learning the guitar and, oh yeah, most of all, GAMING, stuff I've been doing lately, I surely have to be excused!
Ok, seriously now. Yes, it's ok to be a gamer. Not only that, it's perfectly normal to be a gamer. Look around you. I don't know how things are where you live, but here, more and more young people start gaming. Some casually, some more heavily, but all do so whilst maintaining a proper social life, friend circle and other hobbies.
Sure, as with every single bloody thing in this godforsaken world, you can go overboard. I know, personally, people who are used to playing 10-12 hours a day, declining offers to hang out because "Dude, I like, totally have to play some DotA because my net is SOOOO good right now!". But I don't think it's an inherent problem of gaming itself, do you? Because, I also happen to know people like that which are engrossed in reading books. Or bodybuilding. Or alcohol. All of these things are not inherently bad, it's more of a mental problem with the typical person doing it.
