It would suck and no one would buy it. So you are targeting a small audience and it would be good for only 12 year old christian boys that her mother buys and it would suck. i am srry but no

Yes. Something i've discussed before.

You play an angel. You fight demons who are corrupting, possesisng, and influencing people. All of your battles take place in the real world but on the spiritual plane, so your flying through peoples houses, running through pedestrians, etc, like a hardass version of ghost.

OR, replace that douche in Dante's Infero (the game) with Michael.

But making a game about actual bible stories... not gonna happen. The christians would have conniptions if you made them as violent and sexfilled as they actually are (AS PORTRAYED IN THE BIBLE) and the public at large would ignore them if they were tame.

PS: Still waiting for a game that lets me play Thor.

A "true-to-the-source-material" Bible game would probably be rated Ao, and thus not sell all that well, what with the genocide, and the murder, and the rape, and the incest, and the sacrifices and all that sort of thing. And that's just from the "good guys."

How 'bout an "end of times" thing, complete with Jehovah's Witnesses walking around screaming, "I told you so!! Noooww who's burning in the fires of Armageddon?"
That would be sick :)

EDIT: and you'd have to dodge hordes of locusts and zombies and crap! And have insane lightning-magic poweres!
There might actually be an idea here somewhere!
This concept might work great with an FPS or an MMO...
Somebody get Valve/Turbine/Blizzard on the phone!!!!!

There are some pretty epic battles throughout the Old Testament. I could easily see it made into an RTS, like the old Age of Empires (not 3) games where they had several different campaigns for different historical events.

So reading this thread has lead me to an amazing idea.

I want to play a game through Revelations. The four horsemen could be end bosses of each of the game's "levels" which are spread throughout a variety of post-apocalyptic locales.

Holy shit, I think this is possibly the best idea ever.

It'd have to be tongue in cheek to work though, and I doubt the church would be up for it. Still, you never know, pretty much 3/4 of the bible concerns violent battle.
As long as it has a positive message, I don't think that the Vatican would have any issues.
In that case;

Escapist community project, anyone? I'll do the soundtrack. ;)
That would be fun, even though most escapists are atheists (including me), nothing's wrong with working together on a project. I could do some programming :D

To my understanding, they are fucking with Dante Alighieri's Inferno, and from the looks of it, it'll have every man with half a brain shakily drooling and masturbating
:D

To be fair, that game doesn't fit with the topic. Dante's Inferno was actually a rant on the higher members in the Vatican and politics.

Weeell.. I am not a very fun person and I didn't like what they did with Inferno. The original book had actual meaning. The main character was very flawed, and he wasn't anything like the Dante in the game. The teaser was him running around slicing everything to... (hey, they are all ready in hell XD) with a large bone scyth. Its a god-of-war type game, and.. I believe they could have made the game without having him be a Kratos clone.

Well, there is that one passage where Elijah summons two bears to maul a group of children for calling him "Baldy." I want bear-powers.
Right on.

Yeah, I think it would be sweet if you got to play as an angel in that Like, gagillion year/Gagillion casualty war of demons against angels. According to the bible...There was Swords, and they were on fire. They could only be more awesome if they had tits.

I am sorry. I just saw it and got a bit emotional. Its like when "I am Legend" messed with the ending. I had a grudge on Will Smith ever since.

I think I heard that Darksiders is going to be a quadrology where in each game you play as one of the horsemen. At least in the first one you are War.

I never read the bible, so I would be somewhat lost in the story. Although I won't be completly lost, I know the major stories. It could work to some extent though. Just expect a shitload of unnecassary controversy.
