Thank you everyone :D I don't think the crafting systems will be a problem. I played Final Fantasy XI for about eight years, so trust me, I am used to extensive crafting and item systems :p

I have TF2 for PC and have yet to play it. Looked at the server list and had no idea what the community was like online. Was kinda afraid to jump into any game in fear of being insta-banned for being new.

If you have no experience with it, it will be great. If you were a fan, you will feel like you have been raped by modern economy.

Its never too late, I recently went back to the game after a age away and its still as good as ever.
The item/crafting thing is not a issue, you can randomly loot stuff without ever having to spend a penny in the store and the crafting is simple.

Ya the game is ruined by now, its just another Korean MMO FPS with overpriced items etc it was better before now its just well...lets say if you pay you win

I assume you know about the item shop right?
Don't listen to this guy. Base items are better then any you can unlock for free.

You don't pay to win. You just pay to have fun...quicker.

TF2 is brilliant and you don't HAVE to buy anything in the in-game store. You can still get everything if you have patience.

Yeah its also perfectly balanced, and the constant valve support sets it apart from other FPS games. Its still winning things like FPS of the year (PG gamer UK) even now.

It's never too late. Don't listen to anybody offloading criticism, play it for yourself. It freaking rocks.

nah nah, you won't get banned for playing poorly especially if you're new to the game, TF2 community is actually a good FPS community.

I linked it a post over, but join the Escapist TF2 group and get the server IP =)

I have just as much fun playing it now than I did two years ago. I only log on maybe once every two months, and I suck incredibly at shooters to begin with, but still I have a blast. Mainly just feel sorry for my teammates.

Definitely not! Jump in and start playing, you'll learn the ropes on the way!

I asume you're getting it on PC?

I believe The Escapist has a Steam group, so you can start of playing with nice and intelligent people right away.

Never played it before? You'll love it. As a past player? I can't stand it anymore. They took the game I loved and stabbed it in the balls.

I got it during the Steam Sale for $5. So far I'm finding it interesting. I haven't done multiplayer yet because I want to get used to the maps and gameplay first because it's a gametype I'm not as familiar with (MMOFPS, essentially). It doesn't have the same appeal that I got in Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 and I had WAY more fun with Arkham Asylum (which I also got at the Steam Sale). But that doesn't mean it's a terrible purchase.

As for the in-game items. I have no idea what the fuck those are about yet. But they seem expensive and why would I want to pay extra money for an in-game item (A SINGLE ITEM) when it may or may-not have added benefits to my gameplay? I don't know enough about em to deal with it.

In short... I guess get it if you want. And since we'd both be newbies at it, look my up on steam and we can play a round or two.

I'd rather not spend my Christmas money on it now and have a sequel announced in a month, you know? S
I seriously doubt there will be a sequel for a long time, so don't worry about that.

Bullshit. Most of the Default items that come with the game are far superior to the unlockables. And most of the unlockables that are superior like the Equalizer, the Ubersaw or the Wrangler can be earned for free through achievements.

I don't play as much as I used to, but I don't think the additions they've made have anything to do with that. It is still a good game, but if you don't have it yet I'd just wait til the next free weekend or other special price day/weekend to get it.
