Is Team Fortress 2 for 360 worth it?

So it's hard for me to hear over and over how awesome TF2 is without getting the chance to play it. I'm a console gamer, and even if I wanted to switch to PC gaming, my main computer is (always has, and always will be) a Mac. The one thing that stinks about that is that it doesn't have the ability to play many games the PC can (i.e. Steam).

Either last summer or the summer before, I rented The Orange Box for 360 mainly because I wanted to play Portal. I loved it. I tried a bit of Team Fortress 2, though, and found it terribly laggy - unplayable laggy. I was disappointed and eventually returned the rental without so much as a second thought.

But the more I hear about the game, the more I can't help but want to go back and give it a second shot. However, I'm afraid that most of the enticing stuff - the solid gameplay, all the patches and additions and whatnot that keep it going - are all on PC. Is this true? And even if it is, is the 360 version still worth it?

Team fortress 2 would be worth it if you had to get you're ass stapled together to play it. It is by far THE best online experience i have ever had. Check you're connection. the lag is most likely due to that.

I can't officially answer that in an XBox capacity, since I mostly play TF2 on the PC.

But the PC version is massively fun. You should try it.

Yeah it's well worth it, I was playing it the other day and it still has a decent number of people online.

I heard a while back on the TF2 offical site that they would be putting all the updates from PC onto 360 and/or PS3 (can't remember which one find it for yourself though http://www.teamfortress.com/) I am not sure if the 360 or PS3 community will let that pass onto the customers for free though(pretty sure they won't). I don't see the advantage of a mac unless you are some boring buisness type person. I'd look into that update though and see when it's going out.

Admittedly, yes it is better on PC, plus you get the free updates and there are loads of people that play it on tons of servers.
There, we hit on the main problem with the 360 version. It is hard to find a good server with more than a couple of people on it, sometimes it takes ages just to find a server.
But then again, Team Fortress 2 is an amazing game no matter which platform you are playing it on and when you find a server, it can be a lot of fun.

I find it's quite empty online.

I wouldn't bu it on its own but the Orange box is a good deal.

For my FPS online shooting I like Battlefield Bad Company!

It's nothing compared to the PC version. Bigger community, (better controls) free updates. I have it for both Pc and 360 (i lend my 360 orange box to a friend, i still haven't seen it again) and i prefer the PC version by a long way!
It's just superior.

If you're always gonna have a mac, why not just dual boot with windows? The newest OS (leopard?) has Bootcamp implemented quite well. Hell, even the beta version is useful.

It seems like the 360 is going to be updated but you may well have to pay for it and the gameplay will still very likely be just as laggy and lacking the full 12 vs 12 games (or even higher with modded servers).

You'd be better of just getting a PC or, if you're such a Mac fanboy, getting that Windows emulator programme.

Right now there is a bit of a lull in the games online, but wait a bit longer and they will be full again because of the updates that they are putting out. The updates are going to be the same as the ones on the PC so you can look to see what new things are coming.

As for the lag, make sure you join games that have full bars for connectivity, otherwise it can be unbearable to play. But for the most part it is definitely a solid online gaming experience, much better than any other FPS imo.

Yes. It is definately worth it. Is it better on PC though? Yes. We got the Class Upgrades. Srry console gamers looks like Valve hates you... (Their way of saying : "Get a PC and get Steam jackass!") lol

It's a nice, stream lined shooter that's a good deal of fun, occasionally frustrating, but has a lot of good moments. It's worth a shot on the console, and I've been able to find some good sixteen player games on 2Fort most times.Unfortunately, the community isn't huge, like on the PC, but there are still quite a few enthusiasts. And hey, it's in the Orange Box.

Best bet, get it on PC, and dual-boot your mac, new macs all accept it pretty easy, and will open up a whole new world of gaming for you!

This might be of some use? http://forums.gamespace.net.au/steam_mac_oh_hells_yes-t12363.html?t=12363
