Let me make an analogy for you.

Awesome anaology, except Hitler is not God rather the devil. PC games are actually growing rather than shrinking(Mostly due to casual games). Besides, my friends and I would never switch to consoles because you can't mod the games which for me is a huge part of pc games.

As an example, I present Third Age:Total War [http://www.moddb.com/mods/third-age-total-war]. This is technically "just a mod" for Medieval 2. But if you play it, you see practically a brand new game with about 10 unique factions, Middle Earth as the map, unique units and buildings and so on, with almost no resemblence to the original game. People seemingly forget Counterstrike also started as a mod.

pc gaming will probably never die and may at some point take over the entire industry but even if it doesnt the mmo, rpg, fps, strategy, and casual gamer is usually happiest on a pc so it will stay tops for years to come.

I don't believe I ever said that PCs are dead. What i Was asking was if anyone else thought that the sudden influx of games for the consoles and the large lull in games for the PC was a sign that many of the larger video gaming companies are slowly giving up on the PC and making more games for the consoles. The PC itself will never die because it can do so much more with the PC then they will ever make the consoles do. I HOPE that the PC remains a powerhouse when it comes to gaming.

Ok heres to dispell your myths

A, Yes consols are excelling in grafixs but not any faster than the PC, Infact grafix cards are gettin MUCH MUCH BETTER, look at Nividias top grafix cards on thier website, will you?

B, Computers are slightly more complicated, but only to a point, its simply not worth dealing with the red ring of death, and lack of games for the ps3, and the fact that your inevidably paying more for the console (get to that in a second).

(What should have been C) The price for consols eventually get to be more than PC gaming or allready is.

Step one In order to get all games to run on your computer but only 80% at great quality)

If you don't allready have one (which you should) get a computer that has at least 2 gigs of RAM, and 300 gigs of memory (32 bit XP is recomended for these specs but 32bit vista is fine, never use any apple opperating system though, you can also linux but if your not very good with computers yet I wouldn't recommend it and it isn't allways supported). This should cost around 250$ USD even in todays market if you dont allready have one

(Bit system is basicly how much ram your OS can use, 32bit can only work with 4 gigs of ram approx though it wont blow up your computer if you have over that, 64bit is for 8 gigs max I believe though not a lot of games support it thuroughly yet, but strangley enough DOW2 runs better on it. next year there may be 128 bit systems that run 16 gigs ram)

Step 2 grafix card

To get good grafix card at a good price, go to bargain sites. I got my nividia 8600 for 50$ last year, now the better 8800 is 50$ on some sites, The nividia 8600 is cheaper but cant run as good, and is no longer standard, 8800 is standard and can run better, and can run 95% at full or great quality.

DONT USE REGISTRY BOOSTERSs or any thing like Secur rom (not a registry booster), that is used to protect games, the only game I know were secure rom was placed was SPORE, and has perminantly dammaged my comp.

And that, my friend, is why PC gamers have the stereotype of being big headed and elitist, PC's are not better or worse than consoles (in fact, in my original post I never made any claims that either was a superior option, I merely stated why consoles have improved in popularity and how this has contributed to the belief that PC games are dying).

I'm not interested in getting into a discussion of 'which is better' so I'm not going to respond to your 'things you should know' (which was a thinly veiled anti-console rant as far as I could tell), I feel, however, that your counter arguements are somewhat biased (the fact that you started by saying that you were going to demystify me may have had something to do with it).

I've thought about it, but we have an old shared computer which probably can't play most games. Not to mention I can't stand standard mouse/keyboard controls. Gimme an "S" controller any day.

it wont. the PC is the 2nd most powerful gaming platform (only completely pwned by the ps3) and im talking power. not anything else. you can mod a pcs graphics card and such to exceed some 360 games, but the ps3 power chip is 23 times better than the best supercomputers available.

also, theres WoW, CS and tons of other great exclusives that people will keep on playing for a really long.

Wha? Remember folks.... he's talking power.... a single core 3.2 ghz CPU (power PC version - here's a hint at how much those suck, apple gave up on them about the time the ps3 came out) does that beat a 3 core CPU (xbox 360) or the newest of the desktop computers (Hyperthreaded 4 cores to produce 8 core power). Also, it's a 256 mb video card, roughly equivalent to the 8000 series from inVidia, wait.... there's systems with 1-2k video ram on a single card, oh, and those can be triple sli'd (run all at the same time for your consoling insolence).

In short, when was the last time you saw someone using their PS3 to do 3D modeling or trying to find out pi to the quadrillionth decimal place. Never, that's when.

PC gaming all the way!!! It is like anything else, people have a choice and they make it. Kinda like alcohol. Some people choose one alcohol to drink and some drink everything becasue they can. Some use just a PC or a 360...some have it all.

I personally like the mouse and keyboard of the PC control scheme, but the Xbox 360 and Ps3 are both decent platforms for playing games. The same, however, cannot be said for the Wii.....

It seems to me that my Xbox 360 is getting more exclusive games in a few months then PC my gets in a whole year, and most of the games that are also released on console are ported to the PC as more of an afterthought. I have always preferred PC games because of all the additional community made content, and the majority of the mature gamer audience.

Is it just me or has the PC been nearly eclipsed by the consoles, having only a few genres, like MMO's, RTS's, and the Modding Community, holding it back from extinction.

I believe you have your PC and XBox mixed up, my friend. For every XBox game that's realease that isn't exclusive, there are ten or so for the PC, whether they be proffesional hardcore games, casual games, browser-based, flash-based, or whatever.

And yes, they all count.

I agree, there are many indie games being released for the PC that are never going to be release on the console, but the same thing applies to the Xbox 360, and to a lesser degree the WII and PS3. The Xbox has a new feature where people can make their own games (maybe not as big as PC indie games but games none the less) and sell them on Xbox live. Xbox live also feature the Xbox live arcade where many new titles are also being released, even though some of those are re-releases of older games. The PS3 and WII are also re-releasing older games from their older consoles, but the WII has WIIware, which has released many new games. Now this is all added on top of the regular disc based games. I'm not saying that that seals the gap between the 2, but it definitely comes close.

There may be a sudden influx of games for the consoles, but there is still a steady flow of pure PC games. While some games may come on the Xbox, or the other consoles I really don't care about, the game play will always end up being smoother on a PC IMHO.

PC Gaming is a comfort I won't give up. Sitting around for hours staring at my crappy TV and using a controller that will make my fingers ache... just no. Give me a full keyboard and a mouse that fits just right... HEAVEN.
