In Mass Effect 3 trailer London gets ruined so that automatically makes the Mass Effect future rubbish.
Should they open their eyes they will see much, much demand.coldshadow said:I believe crytek has the rights to it right now and said they will make one if there is a demand for it.McCa said:coldshadow said:Future perfect was the third in the series...That Guy Who Phails said:Will be? True, however I do believe there is a confirmed sequel to come yet...
Microsoft Space Simulator. I win wooo!Thrust said:After finishing Dead Space 2 (great game btw) I was wonder of how video game portrays the future, and sadly every single sci fi Video game I've played always tell us that the future will be a dark gloomy unpleasant time.
I mean seriously look at games like System Shock,Doom , Desus Ex, Halo, Crysis , Haze, Fallout and now Dead Space.
In all of those games the future is not pleasant, I know you will need a problem to solve in order to make a game but why not make beautiful future and make that problem threatens certain people at that time and not the whole world.
BUT, maybe there is a game where the future doesn't that I missed, help me Escapists is there any ?
The Tau ending in Dark Crusade goes against that completely; Difficult lives, re-education, and sterlization. Oh, and eaten alive for being with imperials.teebeeohh said:If you are lucky enough to be born on a human planet in Tau space you can do pretty much what you want, even prey to the emperor.
In System shock the future is actually pretty good. It's just a set of very specific circumstances (which in the first game, are all your fault) the leave you stuck in living Hell. Provided you don't start messing with moral free insane Artificial Intelligences or try to hack into secure military databases, System shock's universe seems more or less fine.Thrust said:I mean seriously look at games like System Shock
Do it. They are fun! Though I haven't played any of the PS3 ones yet :/Thrust said:You know I never played a R&C game before, I will try them at one point.eggy32 said:Ratchet and Clank, those gaems are in the future and it's awesome.
as well as a reduced population (think of the student to teacher ratio in your local school district), shorter lines at the grocery store, no gun laws, meted justice...really whats not to love?Sharalon said:Who could say that the Fallout future sucks? It's awesome! Cool mutations, awesome 40-50's soundtrack! Whats not to like?
Yeah I believe Mirror's Edge is supposed to take place in a near future police state version of the world. On that note though, the world still sucks. There is martial law, and people are forced to run across rooftops to deliver messages that say anything negative or seditious about the government.lacktheknack said:Says who?Thrust said:Mirror's Edge is not a futuristic game, it's "supposed" to be set in present day.lacktheknack said:Well, "Mirror's Edge" depicted a very bright and happy future for most...
It doesn't give indications one way or another, and judging by the references to the November riots, the architecture, the overall EVERYTHING, I'd bet money it takes place in 21XX.
