When I realized that I liked the taste of Octopus, everything remotely resembling a boundry went out the window. As long as it won't kill me, I'll give it a shot; which means I'll take a bite out of nearly everything that isn't a pufferfish.

ok, situation is you are a guest at a villiage in uganda, the local hunters have been out for days and returned with a (white or black, cant remember which) rhinosaurous, theyve hunted it just for you to eat, if you dont eat it then you insult your hosts, what do you do?
Okay, in this situation I might eat it to be polite. But even then an ethical issue arises in that case because they might be hunting it to extinction because they know that guests enjoy it and people come to them knowing it will be served.

im not suggesting that profiting is what you want to do, or what anyone wants to do, but maybe thats the solution, imagine a world where the potato hadnt ever become popular, its unlikely that anyone would eat it and therefore it may be extinct, why dont we make it trendy to eat endangered animals, causing big multinational companys to invest in their breeding, causing a huge population surge, problem solved :p
It is a nice idea, but this wouldn't work. The animals we domesticate are domesticated because they are relatively easy. Carnivores are very hard to farm on a mass level (think about the amount of meat they would need and most endangered herbivores are hard to deal with. Think about how difficult it is to raise their numbers in captivity as it is. PLUS, you can't tell the difference between farm raised and wild animals...people might decide it is cheaper to hunt the wild ones and claim they are farm raised.

As a vegetarian, all of them.

But to look at the wider picture (and try to not get flamed), why should you not eat any particular kind of meat? It's all just animals.
To take the OP's example: why not dog? Other cultures eat them just the same, and it's not like they do anything for humanity any more (except pets)
Those dogs are raised like cows though stupid and not playful

but if they killed natural ones, not bred ones, then we would still have bred ones, plus tbh it was a bit of a joke

i understand the thing about endangered animals, and im certain that in 99% of situations i wouldnt eat meat from one, but if its already dead then i would feel that in some ways i had betrayed the animal by not eating it, that sounds sick, but also rational

I'm fairly certain cows can be raised as pets too, we just choose not to.

Nothing really that I know of. I would even eat human meat. Always wondered what it tastes like

Probably something that would look and smell disgusting.

there are lots of things i wouldn't eat because they don't taste good, but there is nothing i wouldn't eat for ethical reasons.

Thats sort of my point. If you raise an animal to be eaten its not the same as raising an animal to be a friend, killing it, then eating it.

...depends

If I got to choose a meat, and then someone went out, killed that animal and cooked it, I think I'd go queasy with anything beyond the normal Cow/Sheep/Chicken sorta stuff

If, however, I was at some wierd hypothetical uber-banquet where it was all already dead, I reckon I'd try everything

Except Dog and Cat, because I love Dogs too much and I hate Cats too much

I've been thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that I think I wouldn't care if my food was either dog meat or monkey. I don't care if I've had a dog as a pet, I'd still be eating dog meat if it was served to me.

Is there any of you who wouldn't eat a certain kind of meat, based on what animal it came from? (Saying yes because it tastes bad, is not a valid reason here.)
Really I wouldn't have any issue with eating pretty much any meat they put in front of me, provided it wouldn't create any mental or physical health issues.
