No. I think.

I don't know. I try not to care about anyone enough to get to that stage.
I mean, I guess I'd at least try to lay a dude out if he was beating a dog or a small kid or something else that couldn't fight back, but that's just basic human decency. Which, surprisingly, I have at least a smidgen of.

I just can't see myself getting all worked up over stupid bullshit like other protective people, I guess. I've never understood that whole "HE GLANCED AT MY SISTER MUST DESTROY" thing. It seems quite silly, frankly.
It's not really that far for me. It's just that revenge is H-E double-hockey-sticks for anyone who decides that my sister isn't worthy of their respect.
See, that's the thing. Where's the line?
If they blatantly disrespect them in some way (i.e. insults, sleeping around, shit like that), then fine. You are pretty much obligated to get hostile with them for doing something like that to anyone you have some sort of close personal relationship with. If not because you genuinely want to, because it is expected of you.

It seems that most of the time, though, it is overreactions. Some guy bumps into your object of overprotectiveness and you cuss him out. He calls them a name and you break his kneecaps.
This is not rational behaviour. This is impulsive, stupid, and does more harm than good.

And besides. It's hardly for their benefit. It's for yours.
YOU want to fuck the offender's shit up. And you want to do it because they hurt YOUR girlfriend/sister/whatever.
It's pretty selfish and possessive. But when you boil it all down, most human things are, so whatever. Moot point.

I feel so protective of my nephew and niece that I'm not sure if I could stop myself from killing the person who intentionally hurts them.

I would call that a protective feeling and a half.

I'm very protective of my younger brother, despite him being a royal pain in the ass sometimes. I once punched a guy out in a club for harassing my autistic younger cousin. That was fun.

I feel quite protective of my best friend oddly enough. I guess she's the person I feel closest to in the world, so I really want to look out for her.

My circle or protection as such is quite wide, but there are degrees to it. I'd go out of my way to protect my friends, but family, lovers and pets I'd go further to aid them. I like protecting people. I think it's the lawful good in me... I feel dirty.

I'm at least a little protective of almost anyone I consider a friend. Maternal instinct or whatever. I has it. Even friends I don't speak to all that often, I can be a bit of a mama bear for. I don't know what it is, but the second I see someone get upset or get hurt, I'm there.

I am extreamly protective of my son; I would kill or die for him! Also I am an only child and I veiw my friends as the family I get to pick! I am almost equally protective of them. And to the list of those I would protect you would have to add my pets.

I look out for my little sister when I can. I'm currently at college though so I only really hear what goes on at home two or three days after it happens. I can rest easy though because I know that if anyone hurts her they will have quite a few royally pissed off people after them, her included (She is freaking scary when she is angry)

My sister is the most important person in my life- I would do anything, without hesitation, to ensure her safety. That is not something I can say of anyone else.

I don't know about possessive... I don't feel indignant when someone harms my sister, as if they've affronted me, specifically- my heart just breaks to see her saddened. I don't know, maybe you're right- I don't think I can argue that it isn't somewhat selfish.

...Sorry, you were directing that to someone else, but your comment just made me think.

That's more revenge than protection though. I'm not particularly protective of anyone. I'm not close with any minors and I feel most people I know are adequate to protect themselves.

Used to have a lady friend I was really protective of, until I finally figured out that she was just using me as an emotional crutch.

Unfortunately this was only after she moved away and decided to severe all connections to me by intentionally talking about things she knew pissed me off so that she wouldn't have to actually behave like a decent human being and have the decency to at least say how she really felt about me.

I only realized how much of a ***** she was a few weeks ago after defending her whenever someone tried to mention how much of a ***** she was to me after I told them the story.
