Is there anything wrong with Bethesda softworks?

Wasn't Morrowind Ubisoft's doing?

On subject, I like Bethesda's 2 most recent offerings to the RPG genre. Not so much Fallout 3 though, because the shooting is just as numb as it is in Oblivion and that isn't a good thing when you ramp the difficulty up. Besides, with the level cap, there's not an awful lot pulling me back to play it again.

Oblivion was a very good game for me. The Fighter's guild storyline was good, the Dark Brotherhood was incredibly dark and friggin' awesome as a result, the Mages' guild was a nice distraction and the Thief's guild was very, very atmospheric. The ayeleid ruins underneath the Imperial City were just epic. Plus, the main storyline was incredibly dramatic and intense - especially the last two or three missions. I also preferred the DLC for Oblivion - though, admittedly, they haven't finished Fallout's lot yet.

I have loved these guys since my brother brought Morrowind home one day and installed it on are PC. There a bunch of lazy genius though to put it bluntly. The games are a bit buggy, and they dont close, they crash to the desktop.

Bethesda makes great worlds, but it's like an MMO with no one else on line, EVER. Why bother...
My sentiments exactly. Huge world, tons of quests, but why bother? In an MMO, the motivation comes from the fact that you're playing with other people. WOW wouldn't have been a success if it had been a single player game! A SP RPG game needs a story, and it needs immersion, two things Bethesda doesn't know how to create. Plus, the games are insanely buggy.

I wouldn't say the games suck, but I certainly don't think they deserve the praise they get from critics (except you know who). They're pretty mediocre, I'd say.

hells yea! they keep makin the same fuckin game but reskinin it and touchin a few things up. they're games are still pretty kool if ur into that stuff but u think they'd change things up a bit after three games that played near the same in my hands. and im fuckin ashamed that they dug their nasty boring hands into fallout and gave a franchise that a lot of people already loved a bland as hell makeover.

I have Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 on my computer, and I'm using fan made patches to fix the massive bugs in all of them.
Bethesda makes a good sandbox, but they don't know how to work out all the mistakes in them.
For this reason, I hope they never bring Elder Scrolls online. That series without mods wouldn't be worth it.

The only reason why Bethesda really could suck is if you take a look at their older NES games, because they did make Wheres Waldo and I think Terminator for NES.

I have no problem with Bethesda. They made Fallout 3, which was amazing in my book. I hated Oblivion, but that doesn't change the fact that Bethesda knew what they were doing with Fallout 3.

Their games have lots of bugs and errors, but they're still some of my favorites.

Bethesda have no heart. They have no real style to their games, everything is either generic fantasy or a generic interpretation of a really interesting world created by BlackIsle. I can't put my finger on it but there's something about Bethesda's games that just gives them this awful, soul-less artificial quality. And it's not the animations or the graphics. And the quality actually makes me loose interest, I didn't care about the world or the people of Fallout 3 like I did wth the first 2. Fallout 3 and Oblivion, even morrowind, didn't feel very epic or grand in scale despite the size of the map or the amount of things that you can do.

For example, they tried to make Fallout 3 dark, gritty, and well, Fallout, but it just felt very forced. It's hard to explain and it's very late.

I'll let this do the talking instead: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Van_Buren BlackIsles version sounded much cooler. Ceasars legion for example, Bethesda would never come up with something like that.

I imagine bugs are a necessary evil when you're designing a game as huge as the ones Bethesda makes. I love their games. Maybe some don't, and that's fine.

Why does everyone think Bethesda are crap for a game studio, i don't get it since, in my opinion, fallout 3 and the TES series wore awesome games.

Yes, they are

Would really appreciate your help.

okay...

After reading some of your posts i would like to ask the question, why is Morrowind so much better than oblivion?

Longer, interesting story line, more creative

I've heard there was allot of complaint on the difficulty and the stiffness of the characters, any thoughts?

Not really, Minor characters really don't matter, oblivion sucked me up in immersion

What about the mods and expansions whom will add-on to the gameplay.

If you have a gamming Pc, buy oblivion, mods are made by the gaming community and add things like wepons, quests, houses, and other gimmicks. In short they make the game better. Expansions are made by bethesda and are usually add ons to story. If you're into the game its worth it!

There are more than 20 000 buggs, about 7 in every quest, 10 around every scripted character, 20 around all the different kinds of creatures, more than a couple of 1000 graphical glitches, more than 500 dialogue based buggs and 10 for every scripted event. Is this a problem?

No, the game is huge! Of course no every bug can be fixed in time! It never ruins the game!

this is still baffling me that there's loads of people saying eveyone hates bathesda yet i know nobody who dislikes them...
id have to agree

I think morrowind was better, even i found it a little hard to think of every little detail (then again, i got it when i was 10). Oblivion was stale compared to morrowind, but it was not bad. I mean, its still fun to run arround pwning everything in sight (while it lasts), and fallout 3, to me atleast had a lot of things to do. even so it did get boring after the first five months

One of the major flaws with bethesda is their writting staff...most of their plots are horrible.
I enjoyed Morrowind's story. Sort of.
It was probably their best effort. Still not what I would call stellar writting.

I love Bethesda, and I did find Morrowind alot more fun than Oblivion. I think it more a grand scheme thing. The game was alot more immersive. I lost 2 straight days to Morrowind. Barely getting up to use the facilities and get food. No sleep, no outside, nothing else. And that was as an adult. I've not had that happen since I was a wee'un.

because morrowind wasn't all the same, it had different environments and all the caves didn't feel exactly the same, each cave was a new experience,

hopefully, ES5 will revert back to a morrowind feel rather than the repetitive oblivion once

PS , don't get me wrong i like oblivion (have a lvl 39 who has done just about everything he got all 1000 gp by himself)

I think you need to have a "stop and smell the roses" personality to enjoy most of Bethesda's games.
