What show is that?

Anyway, with the word "good" being naturally subjective, I can't really say you're right or wrong, buuuut...

it was okay. Probably not a fight scene I'd turn to for an example of a well-done fight in an anime, but not a bad one. The animation was smooth and consistent... save a few slips in the middle and resorting to anime speed lines once or twice. The sound effects and angles at which the strikes were shown did a decent job of conveying weight and impact.

Definitely a one-sided affair, though, and I had no idea who these people were or why they were fighting, so some emotional investment might have changed my mind.

As it stands, though? Yup. an okay fight scene in my eyes.

Kind of hard to tell with that overlay and the poor quality, but it looks like a solid 'meh.'

Pretty much the only notable thing about it is that it's less then 30% 'Zoom in on there faces and lets talk,' which is about 40% better then most anime fights. So... 6/10?

I'm pretty sure it's impossible for anything to be good when surrounded by that overlay.

Seriously though, it seemed well animated to me, bar a couple of instances of ye olde "speed lines".

Hey, what is it with anime and people constantly yelling about not holding back?

I mean at least I could understand what was happening which is better than most anime clips I see linked from youtube, but on the same note I didn't bother finishing the clip which also speaks volumes about my thoughts on it.

In summary: Meh.

The animation was good (those were some very nice camera shots combined with models that managed to appear mostly as traditionally animated, although in some of the more ambitious shots the illusion breaks and you can tell they're 3D models), and the choreography was serviceable. The main problem is that the whole thing is fairly short, with filler in between bursts of blows, which is a typical anime problem where budgets are stretched through moments of inaction. I'd agree with the consensus here that the fight was "alright," although I'd add "has potential." I would *love* to see this animation, camera direction, and choreography in a longer scene without filler, where I believe it would really be something remarkable.

It's good because most anime from around then had garbage fight scenes with still frames, a character disappearing and then someone sheathing their sword.

It's pretty okay.

Nah, not really.

It's a not a good fight scene, but it is animated well. I don't know how many people will actually differentiate that. But I will.

Animation wise it looked good. From a choreography point of view? It was pretty meh. To be a good fight scene, it needs to grasp that "wow"-factor. Without it, a fight scene is just dull.

What I wanna know is who the hell actually willingly uses that kind of overlay and expects people to be ok with it? Jesus, it's distracting and dumb

Because for a visual medium, there is an obsession with talking through fights to illustrate what people are feeling. It is one of the weird characteristics of anime that is fucking everywhere.

Here is a good fight scene that keeps the trash talking to a minimum.

Personally, to me a good fight scene has less to do with animation and more to do with editing and choreography.

Ze important question iz do you think it is a good fight scene. How does it make you feel? Does it remind you of your mother? These are ze important questions.

Taboo tatoo. Guy gets tatoo that turns out to be a superweapon. I wasn't impressed when I watched a bit of it, mostly because of the characterisation of the girl and of another character that doesn't appear here.
Edit:
OT: It's ok. I liked it, but the choreography felt weird. There's probably several other problems, but I'm too lazy to write more.

Back then? It is a new anime.

OT: It is decent. Not great, not good, but not bad either. It gets a pass because it is better animated than 90% of the animes out there, and it looks believable enough.

My bad I didn't watch the video I thought it was a fight I already knew from the still image but yeah you're right it's not.

After watching it I think it's pretty good but could be better.

Oh, I know anime characters love howling their motivations to the sky, but I was wondering specifically about the frequency of the "I'm not holding back" thing.

It's like the writer of the first action anime had just had his mind utterly blown by that "I'm not left handed either" scene in Princess Bride and it's been considered a core element of anime ever since or something.

It's alright, the sound effects made it more enjoyable. Shitty McShitterson ending though, I really don't like the 'could've killed ya' pose, and then she does that anime thing which anime does far too often *sigh*.

Not bad, but if we're talking about good one-sided anime fight scenes, how about this one? -
